Default How much for a pair of 4.5 liter heads? Some details too please

Guys I might be in the market for some 4.5 liter heads for my 5.0 litre engine, I can't find any in Australia easily, well no one responded on our local forum anyway, so I will put it out here. What are they worth, no corrosion or very little, not worried about valves, they will be replaced. No port work done to them. I would like to know the CC volume, is there differences between these heads?

Plain bare 4.5 US heads I would guess at no more than about $100 each, but shipping I can't even guess on. I may have a pair in my garage buried someplace.

I would think you could pick up some 2v heads for next to nothing. $150 plus shipping probably. I have a spare pair.

Do you think there is some hidden power in these heads?

I am looking at some euro heads to do a swap on my 4.5 along w/ some euro cams. Do you think redoing my heads w/ larger valves and porting would work out better?

why the need for 4.5L heads?? are they the same as the US 4.7 L heads? smaller ports and valves than the euro 4.7 heads (43mm vs 45mm intake valve) combustion chamber of the US 4.7 heads are near 54ccs while the euro is near 47ccs

Given the amount of time and money needed to change out valves and seats plus proper porting using NEW heads seems like a great idea....no cracks , no corrosion, just NEW !!

I think the 4.5 and 4.7 heads (USA) are all around 56cc (quoted) the Euro heads are smaller at around 47cc....add sloted 5.0L pistons which start at a low 6.5cc...plus the 2v cuts and you end up with a nice 10.? compression motor

Guys the euro heads are around 52 cc to 53 cc, when we decked them they came down to 52 cc and the others i have are 48 cc after we removed quite a lot of material. I was hoping the 4.5 heads would have a smaller chamber. When I get a moment I will look at the various pistons to see if there is any hints there.

The reason for me switching is the air speed is too slow with a 5.0 litre engine and I am going to put bigger valves, the choices are 48, 49 or 52 mm. I have the 52 mm valves in another head for a bigger engine and the 49 mm are available quite cheaply from pelican. Around $400 with genuine seats.

I have toyed with the idea of spending a crapload of money building a hybrid 5.0L with euro heads, cams, TB to go with my supercharger setup but at the end of the day when I see people posting 4.5L heads are $100 it quickly changes my mind. I might just buy a whole 4.5L motor and rebuild it as a clean backup. I'm happy with the stock 16 valve's power and I'm sure it will be even more fun with the SC. When it pops it will be cheaper than finding all the euro stuff which will be even more expensive by then...

Check out what the shipping would be from the states, but I reckon I could source a set here in Adelaide, a guy here has a 4.5 he has already ratted parts from and will, likely buy another 4.5 litre wreck in the next few days.

Cheers Roy

I have a whole 4.5L long block that you can have for $250 if you can pick it up in the near future. I'll PM you.
