Hi Rog. Yes, I have the set with 8. Thanks for asking!

I'll probably wait until the next time I'm down and pay Sean to install them for me. I also have new rear swaybar bushings to do as well. They've been on the shelf for about a year now.

I don't see how delrin could be significantly different than solid aluminum bushings. Porsche used the rubber bushings to reduce road vibrations on the steering rack.

Louie Ott's solid mounting solution is to use commonly available washers.....

It's hard to say if delrin will be much different, I imagine the difference would be subtle.

I wish there was an option between the soft rubber factory bushing and the delrin.

The washer method helps by eliminating the vertical displacement in the rubber bushings. The Delrin also eliminates the horizontal movement. My thinking is that the Delrin are the weapon of choice here, since they can adjust slightly to differences in the diameters of the holes in the rack ears. Unless you have a race car and are willing to work to get that precision fit, the Delrin are really the way to go.

Roger, what do I need to do to get mine swapped for the new style? Mine still in the box since August... I'll get to it soon, I promise. I did want to shoot some pictures on the way in and out, and I don't have four hands for the wrenches and camera like Dwayne does.

Roger-

I put the 'old' new Delrin bushings on the GTS already, but they have traveled zero miles (zero feet, actually). I'd like to upgrade to these if I can. Thanks!

Are these better than a new factory set?

It's too bad that polygraphite bushings aren't marketed for the 928...

I have a set on my muscle car and they are a HUGE improvement over the stock rubber bushings:

POLYurethane = chemical resistance; flexibility
GRAPHITE = dry lubricant impregnated into the polyurethane

From what I recall, these are a permanent replacement -barring accidents or broken parts.

Wow, sounds great. I know of another 928 that needs its' OE bushings replaced ... LOL

Keeping up with Chuck can keep a person busy!

Did you need/do an alignment afterwards?

I have a set of aluminum ones in my car. I think they were from Carl, but I'm not positive. They really are a great improvement. Definitely gave the car a more dialed-in feel. The only downside I noticed was an increase in cabin noise.

Of course, that increase could be cumulative with a bunch of other mods I did to the car at the same time. I didn't drive it for about a year, so it could be my faulty memory also.

Good one Tom!

As far as I know, there is no alignment needed. If anyone knows different, please post.

The wheel is at 12'o clock, tracks straight as an arrow. I think since the bushings were so toasted on my car, I could never tell if my wheel was going to be just to the right or just to the left of center while driving certain roads. It was never consistant and that was my big concern with the way the car tracked and "felt".

Next time you're up here, getter done!!

Chuck, I told you that the new two piece steering rack busing would make a heck of a difference! My originals were not even bad (manner of speaking) and the new aluminum ones were an incredible difference. Someone in an earlier post said it best...it's like the difference of old motor mounts and new!

How difficult and how long is the install...if anyone has pics of the process that would be a plus.

Jim,
With airtools, it takes about 30 minutes or so.
