Houston Gathering this Sunday, Jan 3 (at the Woodlands)
Starting a new thread for this to catch more attention of the locals.
Are we on for Sunday to meet up with Calgary Ole, our out of town guest, eager to see more TX 928's and their owners? Who can make it? I'll be there and I think Herman said he could make it. I emailed Mike Swaran about it but need to tell him when.
Here's a suggestion, meet in the Woodlands Mall parking lot, maybe close to Market Street, at 3 or 4, hang out for an hour or so around the cars, then walk to that Market Street Mexican place, Tommy Bahama's I think it's called, for dinner/drinks. If earlier is better for everyone, we could meet for lunch then hang out in the parking lot afterwards.
The circled area in the parking lot below would be good for walking to market street and having some room to park.
Bill, Rob Roy, you guys know the area better than I do, so please chime in if you can think of a spot that would work better.

Don - just got back from vacation - great idea to start a new thread. I think that would be a good spot to meet - it would be impossible to get more than 2 parking spots together in Market Street.
I won't be bringing my 928 though, as it is still in many little pieces in my garage

Excellent! Looks like we will have a pretty good turn out. Just heard from a non-RennLister, George Baca, and he says he will be there, with or without car. Also PM'ed all the other Houston Rennlisters I could think of that haven't posted here yet, Rickjaffe, Piccardo, Lawndart, m. Matuza, touque...
I emailed the owner of the red 85 on Craigslist to let them know about it in case they want to bring the car by.
Now if we could just get that Yellow GTS from Katy up to the Woodlands.... I'll be in Katy this afternoon, so maybe I'll do some leg work and stop by the Porsche dealership and a Katy euro shop I know of to see if anyone knows the car.

Count me in! Just got back from a fantastic Houston/San Antonio/Brady/Austin/Houston trip. It'll be a switch to drive under 100 for a while. Not even too much wrenching to be done. Lets make sure we get phone #'s exchanged etc, so we don't have any lost sheep. PM me- whoever is going with your #'s. I'll get mine to you. Tommy Bahamas has got a decent bar. If it's nice we can go across the street to a little mexican joint that's got a nice patio. Lets just play that part by ear.

I don't mean to rain on y'alls parade but you guys better bring your umbrellas and long johns if you hang out very long in a parking lot on Sunday. See forecast below:
Occasional showers possible. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low 40s.
hi 58 lo 41
Wind Speed 8 mph NE
Precipitation 30%
We would come in spite of the weather but a) I am uber religious and spend all day Sunday every Sunday in church; even when in Marble Falls.
b) Randy is an old poop and doesn't want to drive that far to fight Houston traffic on a holiday weekend.
The only caveat to this would be the appearance of the yellow GTS. To see that car we would come on Sunday, in the rain on a busy holiday weekend.
BTW Donald, you really should talk to Randy about blue. It would be so cool to actually see you driving a 928.

Well, no luck finding the yellow GTS, but it was an interesting afternoon. On the way to my mother's house in Katy (far west Houston), I stopped by the west side Porsche dealership and asked a mechanic and a service rep if they knew of the yellow GTS. They did not, and had that "what's a 928 again?" look on their faces.
Next stop was CB European off Mason Rd. Craig Johnston owns this shop and has a white 928. He attended the Blanco gathering years ago but I haven't seen him since. I thought he might know of the yellow GTS. He did not, but had seen it around.
Next came the fun part, I ended up screeming down the road in his now turbo charged 928, pushing 500hp at the crank. It's based on Mark Robinson's kit with many custom mods. It's not all that pretty under the hood, but it is scary fast. Megasquirt electronics, and a 16v euro engine.
He doesn't do Rennlist or any other forum, but said he didn't mind if I posted some pics. He may be able to bring the car to the Woodlands on Sunday.

3:00pm is the meet time and we'll head to dinner/drinks around 5.
I had my restaurant names confused, so we probably won't end up at Jonny Bahama's. The Woodlands locals will pick.
The forecast doesn't look too bad, still 30%, high of 53.
See everyone Sunday.

Berryhill Baha Grill and Cantina
9595 Six Pines Drive
Right across the road from Grotto. Good food. Cheap beer. Parking lot behind Berryhill. Should be able to find some spots. If not, get where you can.

Bill,
Sounds good, that's the place I was orginally thinking of, just had the name wrong.
I've told a few non-Rennlisters that we are meeting in the mall parking lot, so let's meet there at 3 or so, then we can drive to the parking lot near the restaurant around 5, which is only a block or so away.
