I think "Holmsey" Morrison has nailed this based upon the "sees odo" logic.
Anyways...
Iris Blue can definitely look purplish in the right light.
But, Iris Blue (IB) is another false lead. No IB 5-speeds for '95 in NA spec. IIRC IB was only on 4 '94 GTSs. No '95s. No '93s.
2 of the 3 IB 5-speeds and the only auto in IB are accounted for and owned by rennlist members. The 3rd 5-speed is MIA.
Yup. Amethyst (also known as Barney Purple
) is a great color.

Actually, you know what? I was thinking of the Arena Red Metallic GTS with Classic Grey leather in the UK. Absolutely beautiful car as I recall with wheels painted to match! Was it a left hand drive too? I wish I'd saved pictures of that car as it is/was one of the most unique and beautiful 928s I've ever seen.

I know what you mean Chuck. It is ex factory car imported to UK. It was in UK eBay at least twice but bidding did not get high enough for seller. I won one of those but did not follow up or make better offer outside eBay. At the time it had around 100k miles and some rust around rear window trim or some problem like that IIRR. I think interior was darker color than Classic Grey and from period color choices. It wasn't made to order but it was little unusual combination. I should have pics somewhere...

Didn’t the OP mention something about a chrome sill on the car? Did it say GTS or 928 (I can’t remember what it suppose to be)? Does the 968 comes with any of this?

There is way too much speculation going on here. Why is that so many want to disprove the existence of this car? If the OP can come up with more info, then that’s great, if he can’t, then leave it at that. All these theories that this is a 968 is worst then just letting the thread stay dormant until more, valid, information is given/found.

Imre,
I don't think anyone wants to "disprove" the car... Just that we would like to VERIFY the car. I mean there were only 400ish GTS's EVER imported to North America, so they are SO RARE if one shows itself that has NEVER BEEN known before (and Chuck has put in HUNDREDS of hours tracking ALL the GTS's and in particular the '95's) then by gawd we want to KNOW ABOUT IT! That is all.
Someone who is NOT a 928 guy talks to a guy that is NOT the original purchaser of the car in a dark garage covered up and says it is an 8XX mile '95 GTS and no one has ever seen or heard of it and all the work possible to track a VIN's and match color combos show no car like it... well we just want the REAL answer to the puzzle is all.
For me anyway, it is a FUN puzzle to try and work out w/o seeing anything. Just trying to come up with fun logical answers based on the first description by the man who saw it...

Chuck Is there any suggestions on how i can track down the 94 Amethyst GTS? VIN search to come up with owner information and work from there? Is that how you would do it?
James, If anything, this whole thing will just confirm to those as draggers that the V8 guys are CRAZY!
I agree with your logic. I take it a 968 has a mechanical odometer and is thus visible with no battery power. It could of course be hooked up to a battery tender or some such thing. I think those are real common now especially when someone has a few cars sitting around.

With privacy laws they way they are today it's very difficult to find owner information for the average person. I'm probably not the best person to answer how you'd go about getting owner info.
