Ryan,

I agree and I have several of my cars on tenders, but my thought is that if the car was on a tender it would probably have at least been driven around the BLOCK a few times in the last 5 years... He also did not say they put the key in the ignition...he didn't say they didn't do that either, if that is not enough negatives in one thought for you... LOL!

I just got the impression from the original post that they were drinking, the conversation turned to cars, the guy says, "come check this out." They go out to the garage pull most of the cover (but maybe not ALL) the cover off the car, he opens the door, sits down and says, wow...1800km's...looks around, KNOWS it is not a 911, says, "wow, this is a nice 928. What year is it." "Oh, its a '95." The owner thinks he said 968 and does not correct him, or honestly DOES NOT EVEN KNOW! Remember the woman owns the car and her previous husband who bought the car has died, this guy showing the car is late to the party and is NOT a Porsche guy AT ALL...

Anyway, Ryan, the 928 gang is COMPLETELY CRAZY! There is no doubt or question about that bro!!! Every now and again we let others see JUST HOW CRAZY about our cars we really are!

James, i agree with your logic

As for the key theory, cant you just click the stalk to call up the odo? I dont have a digital dash car at the moment but i recall being able to call up the odo without the key, I recall the transporter doing this at one time when i shipped one of my cars and i had the key in my hand, i was surprised because i didnt know you could do that.

With privacy laws they way they are today it's very difficult to find owner information for the average person. I'm probably not the best person to answer how you'd go about getting owner info.
Thanks for the post Chuck, I seemed to have missed it previously.

I guess based on what you have just said also, I shouldnt be corroborating with you to get owner information...... because you would likely be my competition, so ill have to do some investigative reporting on my own. ha ha

Thanks for the insight though.

As a last resort, i could just buy a red, or silver GTS (Which there are plenty of and no one would miss) and tear the whole thing apart and change the color. Wow , that would be expensive........

If I could help you I would. Don't buy a red one and paint it. I'm not going to buy it if it comes available. I am out of garage space with 5 cars (was 6 until Kermit left....) so unless I buy another lift....; I'd like to have an euro OB or 89 GT in addition to my GTS (have to convince my CFO that's a good idea first though....).

BTW, When the car was in SC it had some paint work (not that it matters its such a cool car!) on the lower left front fender as the front wheel came off at some point and you can guess what was damaged as a result.........

ahh good info to know for haggling.

ill try and run a carfax on it see where it was last registered and get an update on mileage.

If i did buy a GTS and changed the color i would be doing so knowing i would be keeping the car. As it stands that car is not ideal, color combo it is, but its an auto, but ive decided that i wont pay the 15K premium for a 5 speed over an auto GTS when i can do the conversion for much less. So in essence i would have a GTS that would never be stock. It wouldnt be a $100,000 low mile car obviously (frankly for that money there are 50 cars i would take over a GTS anyway, thats just me) So for my money I would have a modified car, and that being the case, if i went from red or some common color to "Amethyst" or some other violet color I dont think i would be further devaluing the car at all. The interior would of course be all custom too. Im rambling..... as you were.

I need to stop day dreaming

I think Arena Red is what Chuck was talking about and the one you show about looks Arena red to me... certainly not Amethyst.
