Which "ford" fuel injector?
Anybody got a PN/supplier for an early 86? All of mine are off and it may be easier/cheaper to get new ones than get the old ones serviced. Some peopel have posted that injectors are a "wear" item anyway and should be replaced. Mine have 150K miles on them.

Any late 80’s early 90’s, 24lb Ford, Bosch style injectors will do. You can even use the same O rings that they come with. Lincoln Mark VIIIs have 24lb unit and are called the “blue top” because of the colour of the top part of the injector. I’ve posted this info in a tread that had pretty much everything you needed to know about replacement injectors for the 928.

sadly, the search function really sucks on here now. I too have problems getting relevant results from searches anymore. It used to be excellent, and all of the collective knowledge on things like injectors were easily found. Not so anymore. Lots of knowledge being wasted and lost.

The current ford injector that will work is M-9593-AA302. This is the newer EV6 design, and although it looks different the two dimensions that are important are the overall length, and the diameter of the ends. They are the same. There's no cutout for the metal retaining clips that secure the injector to the fuel rail, but they're not terribly effective anyway, and since the fuel rail bolts to the intake, it's not like the injectors can come out. They have the proper connector, impedance, and flow rate.
Summit Racing currently doesn't have a listing, and I didn't find them on the Ford Racing website, but it is listed in their paper 2009 catalog. A Ford Racing dealer is the cheapest option. The last time I did see a listing which was just a few months ago, the 24lb/hour injector set was $200.

I have a set of the Design II (4 pintle) injectors with the larger o-rings I would love to trade for those that will work for an 85-86
The injectors i have are for an S4 19 lb/hr and I need the correct 25 lb/hr injectors for the 85.

J Howell, FWIW there have been a few engine fires due to using the different fuel injectors without the upper guide securing collars, what happens is that the injector gets pushed out of the rail and into the intake just far enough to cause a fuel leak and the rest is a cookout.
IIRC Bill Ball made a post about this fact a few years ago.
I also remember another owner cutting slots into tops of the injectors so the collars could be fitted.
I would say that fitting the injectors without the collars isnt a good idea

In the link in my post above, I reference those newer Ford injectors and where to get them cheap ($152). I cut a ring into the plastic body to fit the retaining clip. They fit without issue and are really tight and not moving.

Have you tried cruzinperformance.com, I have talked to Rick and am going to send the 10 injectors ( 2 extra for backup ) I have to have rebuilt and cleaned. Sounds like a good deal to me. $17.00 each plus shipping.

Cleaning works well and they rarely go bad. But the newer ones as discussed are a 3rd generation design that has a better spray pattern that has better atomization. I don't think anyone has dynoed back to back to see any difference though. But when you look at $136 for cleaning 8, or 8 new for $152, I'd be leaning towards new. But it's all personal preference.
