Default Norcal Lemons update!!!! 187whp 246torque :>)

Things are progressing along nicely....the 84 automatic runs surprisingly well and the interior removal is nearly done..... We are on track to make the Lemons event at Thunderhill November 20-21-22.... Hopefully we can get her out on track in a couple weeks for some testing

I am quite optimistic about our chances if the 84 holds together...given the "team" of drivers.....Mark Anderson....Mark Kibort....myself (weak link) Clint and John (Evil Genius racing) its safe to say we should be contenders......

4 more races on the schedule for 2010 too... including one at Infineon, Reno, Buttonwillow and Thunderhill....hopefully we can get the 79 5 speed running for those....but we shall see!!

But we have to finish this one 1st! :

Very cool. What is wrong with the five speed or is this one in better running shape?

I think we need a SoCal Lemons effort.

The 5 speed is still around...but we figured the 84 would be easier to make run...since everything was already in place.....

The 79 will be the longer term lemons effort..but the body really is too nice....straight non sunroof no rubstrip guards red paint in good condition....since a lemons car needs to be UGLY....

Looking good One of our Redwood Region members was out "testing" their Lemons 924 last saturday at our auto-X.They will be at Thunderhill in November.
I am thinking of going to watch. Now the dilemma......
Who am I going to root for? Oh crap I just remembered that my neighbor raced last year in a Alfa Romeo, now I am really screwed.

This sounds like it would be alot of fun. I would really enjoy "pitting" I will have to see what my work schedule looks like. I can swing weekends but weekdays are a bit tough.

DYNO update.....she runs good....all the gears shift....only took it up to 4000rpm, during initial testing but still made 160hp at 4000rpm and 220ftlbs at 3000rpm.....which seems about right for that rpm....and it was running extremely rich...

with a new exhaust and tuning I'm sure we can get close to 200whp at 5500rpm....which is plenty for lemons

sure is. i reved it to about 4800 but it was already falling off and getting warm, i repositioned the dyno fan and its working much better now. its sounds pretty good, not as smooth and pure as the widow but like a 150k mileporsche. i do bet we can get about 190-200whp. the torque surprised me, its rather good.

i think maybe if we have time ( unlikely) we build the supercharger mounts and do some testing aswell ( if we have the unlikely time to) and we install the SC on for day 2. ohh they wont know what hit them! adn it should be too late to be voted to be crushed, well maybe not. its an idea!

Brian you need to nail down the theme! something that has to do with a 942 style wagon!

You realize of course that if you have any measure of success with this car at LeMons, the folks at Jalopnik will conspire to have it given the People's Curse and crushed..... Can't have a 928 do anything but torture its PCH victims.

Can't wait to see how y'all do, looks like a ton of fun!

PS- There's a SoCal LeMons on 12/4/10. Plenty of time to put something together. I volunteer for pit crew.....

update......dyno run with correct timing (was WAY advanced before).....184whp @ 5200 and 240 torque.....runs like a champ now! this is with 100% stock exhaust...full cats and everything.....a free flow exhaust could free up another 20whp easy...headers would help immensely too...but would be hard to sneak past the judges... :>(

put on some 85 manifolds, and 3" piping all the way to the rear, straight pipe.

I got 177rwhp with my 84 and it was a stick! headers and free flow were worth 12hp each. (I ended up with 200rwhp).

it wasnt until the intake and cams, did the 84 make 240rwhp.

sounds like you got a strong one there! at 200rwhp the black 79 was able to run 2:10s at t-hill, but with big tires and wheels.

I am impressed with the dyno...will post the chart once I get it...also the AFR's were good...12.7 to 13.5 across the board....

So with 85 headers and exhaust would gain 24hp will make 208whp....quite strong.....

Even better would be a set of MSDS headers...that would gain another 10 or so....220whp would be SWEET....plenty for lemons....since at an estimated weight of 2700lbs and 184hp is 14.65 power to weight....the V8olvo won at 2870lbs-200whp or 14.35hp/lb so its right there & is more aerodynamic with better handling and brakes too

I just signed up for testing at the Volvo trackday Thursday November 5th and NCRC Friday the 6th....you should come up and enter the NCRC race in GT3-4 in it!! $139 for 5 open sessions and 4 race sessions!!

My 84 5 speed with MSDS headers and an exhaust made around ~230whp.

Nice work guys. I wouldn't worry too much about it getting crushed. The LeMons people have actually been asking for someone to run a 928.
