Not sure on color, looks sort of like a car at SF that I think was Amazon Green, but looked blue to me.
The catch to that plan is the part you are thinking of swapping is the least likely source of it not running, essentially the block is the compression part of the spark, fuel, compression trio. Spark and fuel are the trouble makers.
If both have some problems, Ljet I think will be cheaper to sort out.

I hope I don't need to touch the 78 drive-train and can someday turn my attention to that car.

Thanks Joe. I did not look for it under the hood, but on 944's the paint code is stickered near the firewall. Is this the case with 928's? I guess I should do a search.

Does anyone know what those harnesses are in pic 6, in post number 2?
I probably should have taken pictures of the other side. As I recall, they are six pin.

I will have someone check tomorrow for the actual code (car is at weekend house). Maybe I can actually contribute an Albert Blue, an Arrow Blue or a Lint Green Metallic to that fantastic site.

Arrow blue is what James' Blue82 is, if I recall correctly.

You'll see a lot more blue and black when you pull the seats out and look where the sun don't shine.

Hi Micheal
Looks like it is gonna be sweet. Not sure about the harness in question. That connector is used a few places as I recall. Of course it mates the engine harness to the car, but I think it is also used for the sunroof controller, and maybe the cruse control. Don't remember very clearly. If you decide not to strip the interior, let me know as I have more stuff. I don't know what all, but at least I have side and center carpet strips. I would not tear off the CIS until you have gone through it checking it out. It is pretty simple. The L jet is fine also, but sometimes they get eletrical intermittents that are tough to find.

Thanks Karl. So nice.
I hope I don't have to touch (for parts) the 78 until I am ready to fix her up. Right now, I am putting all of my efforts into the 1980 as I have most things that I need to get her on the road. This was a deal I could not pass up. I got the 1978 for $225 plus the $80 it cost me in gas to get her up to the house.
Likewise, please let me know if you need anything for any of your cars. I am now swimming in interior bits between your generosity, the parts from Blythe's interior, and what was serviceable from the 1980.
I plan on flushing the tank and lines of the 1978 in the coming weeks and trying to start her up. I will definitely be consulting the list in addition to smart people like you for advice on working with CIS.
As far as the harnesses go, the car has no sunroof nor cruise control. So, maybe they are for the motor. I will check those connections when I am next up at my house.
Do you need a breather kit or fuel lines for your 79 project car? Harnesses? They are yours if you can use them.
