Default Leeroy Leon Fund

"Leeroy Lives"

This car, "Leon" is the result of the good philanthropic efforts of 928 International and Rennlisters to help a fellow 928 owner, Lisa Marie (Socalgirl) when her own car (Leeroy) caught fire and was destroyed. "Leon" is the result of that effort and Lisa Marie was the appreciative beneficiary.

Circumstances have unfortunately required Lisa Marie to put Leon up for sale/adoption. In the interest of continuing the goodwill she received, Leon has been sold "at a deeply discounted price" to a group of 928 Rennlist enthusiasts. The only stipulation for the transfer of Leon is that he is to be a not-for-sale (ever) car that will be granted to a deserving and active member of the 928 community for a period of one year. During that time the present caretaker shall register, insure, maintain and enhance Leon until such time they have repaired, replaced their own car. At any time during the one year period the present caretaker, along with the discretion of 928 International, can bequeath Leon to its next deserving caretaker.

The sole prupose of the "Leeroy Lives" project is to foster and enhance the goodwill of the 928 community by providing the opportunity to continue the driving enjoyment of a 928 during the time their own car is out of commision or is replaced.

928 International

Two years ago I bought my first 928, Leeroy. He was beautiful. Everyday was a pleasure driving him, listening to the engine roar, hearing his music...he took great care of me. An engine fire took leeroys life. I turned to rennlist to share my sadness & profess my love.
Within days members were offering advice, suggestions, help, parts...And in two weeks, Leon was built. He even strutted around in leeroys original steering wheel & gear shift.
6 months later the LEEROY LEON fund was created. Mark at 928 international is the host. Leeroy Leon will go to members in need. Members who need a car while theirs is being fixed, etc. He will go bring joy in times of need. Reassurance in times of stress, beauty, style, and security.
Passed from one to another, just as he was intended.
A parts fund has also been started. I bought a used lighter unit for Leeroy. It was from a fellow member. It has been donated to Mark to start a parts fund. Members can donate time, parts, extra items, etc to help others who may need them.
Nothing is ever expected in return. Just the joy of giving.
Leeroy Leon Fund is something we are all proud to be apart of.
Thank you
Its a story my grandkids will hear=PRICELESS
~*And they allll lived happily ever after*~

A dash plaque could be attached and engraved with each "caretaker's" name.
A running history of who, where and when "leeroy" was needed.

Wow, now this is is some cool ****.....! The 928 community never ceases to amaze me..... Of course, it's the kind of thing you nearly expect from Mark A..... What a great person..... I hope somehow this car works its way somewhere near me, so that I can put it on the lift and give it some maintenance or upgrade love for the current owner.....

I want to second what soupcan 928 had to say about a dash plaque. It will serve as a good reminder of the team work and effort that was put into this project.

Too Cool!

If it ever makes its way to central NH, I will reserve a couple days for it on my lift for what ever maintenance it happens to need then........

TOO COOL!

Wow - what a brilliant idea!

I had read the first few pages of the Leon-for-sale thread with a mix of disgust and disappointment, but this development makes for a full double-reverse better-than-you-could-imagine outcome!!

Pats on the backs to all who came up with this plan! That was some good outside-the-box thinking!
