Indeed a joke. S4ordie and Dan are indeed the same person. I can assure you I will not be calling you stupid to your face any time soon. Ouch!

Go for it Kahled, it's exactly what I would do with an S4 or newer if I could afford it (I would always restore the older ones back to original spec). I'd be as nuts as you and that Dan guy, in fact;-)
Be sure and follow Dan's lead and post lots of pics as the work progresses!

BTW, I would not add the rear a/c under any circumstances - imho it creates a maintanence nightmare with little added benefit when it works. Indeed, that would be on my list of deletes!

Kahled - None of what you have stated makes any sense at all. Financially you can get a few excellent condition 928's for whay your budget is. At no point will this car ever be worth a fraction of the investment, frustration or time it will take to get it done. I think people who do this are foolish and really offer nothing more than a vicarious thrill ride for the rest of us. It's your money, do with it as you want. To me, all of this behavior is foolishness personified.
Read through this guy's thread. He's an idiot, I know this from first hand experience. His project is similar in scope though he is also having a Greg Brown stroker built for his car. He and you must be crazy to even consider such things. You really must seek psychiatric help. Sorry if I have offended but you and this guy Dan are stupid.

EDIT THIS IS A JOKE FOR THOSE UNABLE TO MAKE THE CONNECTION THAT "DAN" "S4ordie" and "I" ARE ONE IN THE SAME.... seems some folks failed to click on the link to my resto page. Kahled, we are 928 brothers born of different mothers. Proceed with the build and I wish you great enjoyment as I am experiencing.

I promise you, here in Georgia, with a black car, even with center vent temps in the mid 30's it gets uncomfortable.
I have all the parts to install rear air and plan to do just that when i pull the engine this winter.
I can see no reason that it could not help, just from moving more cool air.
That is the real problem, not enough air flow past the evap core.
Leaks, rattles can be fixed, getting the better half to go for a ride in a car she says it to hot can not be fixed.

New harnesses with modern materials sounds like a great idea. Ben took a swing at it last year, but it didn't take off for some reason. I wonder about the gold plating, plating over the existing surface treatment doesn't sound good to me.

Greg-
The 90+ cars have an ignition control monitor (ICM) setup with 2 thermocouples in the exhaust ports of cylinders 3 and 7 or 4 and 8- the thermocouples attach to the LH harness near the back of the intake V. You can see the heatshielded fabric and the ICM connectors in their little clips on the back of the heads in the pic below. If someone's gonna make an LH harness, they could make life easier by making one that fits all '87 to '95 cars.
Dumb Question- while one was at it, does that Rogerbox dynamic kickdown thing route thru the LH harness? One might also add 2 or 3 extra pairs of wires for pressure/temp gauge senders, or ????
While we're dreaming, might as well dream creatively.....

gotcha, even if I do not do the full digi dash conversion on mine, I am going to install the monitor, i have all the parts to do that.
And I agree, if you are building a harness, make room for expansion.
But is sounds like he may want to go with some kind of CAN-DATA buss, because I an not sure what he means by old fashioned heavy wiring harness.
A change like that would be major money.

Kahled - Wow, sort of surprised you are still in 928 land, but glad to hear that you are and glad to hear from you again.
Why not do what you want with it, especially if $$$ are not that big of an obstacle. I assume this is the same car you had when you lived here. You are probably the best thing that could happen to it.
Too many 928's meet their demise with careless owners who cheapskate their way through and end up turning a nice car into a POS. Too many of these cars are stripped for track use never to return to there former glory and just end up as wrecks.
You at least have a plan and the capital to back it up, two big thumbs-up for you. Have fun and keep us in the loop as to how it is going.

Great to hear from you Kahled! Sounds like a fantastic project. Dan will be like a kid in a candy store! With your fondness for GT's, you should definitely swap out the cams and put in a 5 speed
