I agree with most above, however my problem is that i know if i have multiple 928s, i will have a hard time driving them, and to be honest, i have already a number of cars not seeing the light at all... I love driving the newer cars, but nothing beats driving the 928 for sheer being special - and i do mean those cars are special and make you really special, new stuff is pure show and there are just toooooo many.
The budget will be anywhere between 50-100K no more. I do want to address some of the weaknesses in the 928 like the wiring harnesses (which are too heavy and too old of a technology), the sound proofing which sucks, A/C issues, and yeah the paint in new nano-ceramic which is better in scratch resistance and fade....
P.S. I do not have the heart to let got of my car (i do not want it to die alone somewhere), and getting another and pulling the project is a Big No No as seriously both my family and girlfriend were all over my case when i was about to buy a GT (on two occasions)....

GO FOR IT! Its obvious that money is not much of an issue with this rebuild. So many people dwell of the value of the finished product...who cares unless you plan on selling???? How many people MAKE money on their hobby??? Not many. Fishing, hunting, sailing, golfing....its all a money pit so just enjoy what you love.

Maybe, upgrade the engine controls to a modern COP set up, sequential digital fuel injection, data logging, on top of one of Greg Browns 6.5 liter engines.
Rear seat delete, double dinn nav system, custom AutoMeter instrument panel.
F50 brakes, i could go on, but something along the lines of a modern retro rod, taking the best of modern technical parts and the best of the 928.
Fast, great looking, powerful, reliable and able to out perform just about any car currently for sale today.
I would love to build a car like that for me, or for some one else.

The wiring harness upgrade requirements sounds like a great opportunity for Carl F. to expand his harness offerings- He's already got the 32V front-of-engine harnesses (which I presume involved figuring out the specs and part # for each and every connector on the harness- knowledge that should be applicable to other harnesses) and it'd be great to see an LH harness. The first example of each would be hugely expensive but the cost might be recouped by subsequent sales as the OEM supply becomes NLA. I would build a '91+ LH harness with the ICM circuitry included.

Khaled - None of what you have stated makes any sense at all. Financially you can get a few excellent condition 928's for whay your budget is. At no point will this car ever be worth a fraction of the investment, frustration or time it will take to get it done. I think people who do this are foolish and really offer nothing more than a vicarious thrill ride for the rest of us. It's your money, do with it as you want. To me, all of this behavior is foolishness personified.

Khaled, pay no attention to your detractors- sometimes, a particular car is more than just another "thing", for whatever reason. It's personal, it doesn't matter if what you are are doing makes monetary sense or not- its what you want. Period. You don't need anyone's approval, and I know you don't expect make money on it.
I say go for it! Get it done the way you want it, and **** on the naysayers....you will end up with something you enjoy, and is different than the fad-of-moment machines...
