what about maybe somehow someway we could actually try to recreate the run at Bonneville? Not me driving though I would slow it down with weight!

Weight is gut.

I hear the salt flats is slippery as heck so mo downforce helps the poor tires grab the salt.

+++928 on that proposal. Let me know if anyone is starting a cookie jar fund to help finance this project. It's an important car in our world, and I'd be proud to be a part of its resurrection.

realistically, i think it would be best to just get it together with a cage for exhibition runs. Running the Holbert car at Bonnevile again would be awesome. who cares if it was not exactly the same. having the cage in it might be useful.
To make it a full, and complete restoration, might be tough. basically building a totally new car from old stuff. a lot of work. new wiring, AC, stock interior, seats, stereo, smog stuff, etc etc. I would say that 10 years, and it might not be long enough to get that kind of project done by one or two people. However, getting the car back to some level of recognizability, might be better and more realistic, plus be more fun to have at events where it could actually do something besides look pretty .
Hey, those are my thoughts, but Im biased.

I agree Mark,We'll get it to a certain level but I would like to visit the idea of trying to make it as close to perfect as we all can.I think just seeing the tub in a less than crumpled state will greatly motivate all.

Maybe we could ask Wally if he is interested in being a part of something like that, at least as an advisor, he already has a few Salt Flat records that I think still stand today.

I think that the aluminum intake manifold should go with the car as it was a one off to it.

Ed, I think that means that you need a set of new cams for it to as it essentially had S3 cams in the car from the factory too.

How about 50/50, passenger side Kibort, driver side Holbert?

If the relay idea works I'd be happy to pitch in and would be willing to tow a trailer through Colorado. I can meet someone in Utah and tow it along I-70 to Kansas to the next guy.

How about a target date in 2012 at the Saltflats, recreating the run - 25 years later.

What was different about the intake manifold on the Holbert car vs the stock S4 intake manifold?
