Find me some decent ones to make a mould off of and I can make some from fibreglass. already tooling up for dashes and door pannels. I have early 924 and 944 dashes in final fitting stages right now if anyone is interested. 928 door pannels are next this fall and I hope to start doing dashes later this winter still have to pull the good dash out of my red car just waiting till the driving season is over here.

I'd be interested in a set as well. $400 would be my limit, and lower would definitely be better.

Here's the recent thread about this where Greg first mentioned his neighbor. Lots of good input in there.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...der-liner.html

I'm in for at least one set of the ABS full arch liners, more if they can be made (or easily modified) to fit S4 rear arches. Price-wise, $300 a set would be a good aiming point if it included S4's, $400 if only the cars with GTS flares.

Dan H was going to try to get his hands on his old ones from his '91 S4 from before the GTS arches were welded on? Dan was there any progress on comparing them with the GTS ones? If I recall, PET part numbers implied that the 91 and GTS liners were the same part?

There are also a lot of people involved in other 928 communities who don't frequent Rennlist and would probably be interested. The UK, French and Australian lists spring to mind as all being fairly large and with a good supply of people who work on their own cars, or who are interested in reducing noise.

Would rocks/debris kicked up by the tires, crack and or compromise the fiberglass for the fender liners? Would you be putting some sort of gelcoat on for color, black? My boat does not like hard sharp things hitting the gelcoat.

Bring on those FG dash/door panels for the 928! Need the rear quarter panels too. Before you build them be sure to get input from people here regarding how to modifiy the door and rear quarter panels in order to accept more current speaker sizes. Depth is the issue and forces us to use older less effective speakers.

Hi Hilton - I did rescue the original, cracked liners from my 91 S4. Greg B. has both those and the NOS GTS liners. IIRC, there is a difference. Just not sure how much. Greg can elaborate, I'm a bit removed from them for now.

I'm "in" for one set. There are two other GTSs 'round here that need them - or will need them soon. So, figure 3 sets to go through my hands. Maybe four - I'm going to check the '91 in the next couple of days.

Has anybody considered vacume forming these from thin abs? A vacume form tool is much simpler and cheaper to make than a mold. Basically someone woud have to carve a wooden block that fits inside the fender liner. It would be a pretty big chunk of wood, and a lot of carving/ sanding to get it into a reasonable shape. Then you drill lots of holes in the block so you can hook up a shopvac and it will suck the plastic down. A 24" by 48" sheet of 1/16 abs is $23. You heat it up and allow the vacume to suck it into the mold. You could probably do the heating with a propane torch, or perhaps even a heat gun. The ABS would not be super strong, but much better than what is in there now.

Heres' the left liner from my '93, held together with duct tape and metal strapping- The right liner is completely gone except for a ragged square inch or so at every mounting point. What a joke.

Yes Rob, it is a joke. Mine were in infinitely better shape but I tossed them because any touch made chunks of the sealing "plastic" break off and litter my driveway. As I carefully unscrewed the service lid for the PSD, the whole sill came out LOL!! Yep ... a joke and a SPENDY one. I like it without it actually. Just need splishy splashy guards.

To have them done in urethane will be the bees' knees. I'm a little nervous about all the time the car spent driving around in the Oregon rain, spraying rain at high speed all over the PSD unit. It's truly filthy.

Finally got around to test fitting the '87-'90 rear splash shields I got from Roger, oh, 9 months ago. Still need to get some weatherstripping around the perimeters.

Fitment notes on a 93 GTS:

Left front (928 504 303 02): lines up perfectly with all four mounting points

Left Rear (928 504 309 04): lines up perfectly, 3 out of 4 mounting points. Think I'm missing a bracket for the 4th...

Right front (928 504 304 02): Only 2 of 3 mounting points line up, and the panel is about 3/4" too narrow at the outboard side.

Right rear: Still need to modify per Borland's or Nicholbry's method.

Greg's neighbor with the urethane parts shop closed down rather suddenly one evening a few months ago, so I think they're out as far as making the full GTS fender liners....

Rob, et al,

You can make the left side rear from the '87 -90 cars fit on the right side rear as well. Just put it in backwards! I did this about 2 years ago, and I may have had to do a very small amount of trimming, but it's sure better than the OE GTS there.

Roger,

Are the driver side GTS fender liners you are getting actually for the GTS or are they the GT/S4 liners? The one I got last year was GT/S4 even though I ordered the GTS part #.
