Wanted to bring this to the top.

Who is currently using this tool? Does Greg (blown87) still have it?

Is there a list of who gets it next and so on? I know Dwayne needs to use it and myself.

Should I PM Greg Brown to get on the list? Just wanted some specifics. I am hoping to do this over the winter if available.

This is a huge accomplishment and cant wait to bring my block back to stock cooling efficiency.

Thanks

It is on its way back to Greg Brown.
It is a very slick tool.

When I saw the thread title come up on page 1 again, my mind somehow read it as "928 Block Damaged (by Water Pump Repair)".

Need to get my eyes checked.

It could be read either way. Repair of 928 Block Damaged by Water Pump is less ambiguous.

But, I think many of us were eagerly awaiting Greg's construction of this thread as a follow-on to one of the previous threads and therefore knew what to expect.

I've been very interested to see updates as well. When I first saw it, it was before coffee and I just had to read it again to get it straight in my head.

I'm confused. What is this "before coffee" thing? I don't understand. Is that what they mean when they use "B.C.?" Or is it like "Army Intelligence?"

Might as well be.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the Beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning.

I think this is a great repair.

The only criticism I would have is that you only need two screws to hold that insert. What was the thought behind so many screws?

By design it is held in place by the impeller. any failure would take out the pump impeller only.

Also if you get taller drill bushings and a step drill, you would not need to swap out the bushings.

The insert is not held in by the impeller, the impeller is trying to suck the insert into the impeller.
I can not imagine exactly what would happen if the insert got loose, but it would not be good at all.

I also have no idea where you are coming from with the step drills, if you could even find any in the right size, number 29's IIRC.
The bushings are standard over the counter bushings I would imagine, and changing them out not only helps you keep track of where you are at, it is simple just a 1/4 of a turn and they come right out.
