oil filter magnet?

So, from this thread I have learned that on a Chevy engine the magnet is to capture pieces of the heads and the block that break off as the engine runs?
Seriously, I can't see a magnet on the filter doing anything but good. Might not ever catch much, but for $8, you can hardly go bad.

Hey, true story, as some know here. Hey, all but 2 of the 7 broken teeth ended up on the drain plug magnet. thats where magnets need to be.
