So, from this thread I have learned that on a Chevy engine the magnet is to capture pieces of the heads and the block that break off as the engine runs?

Seriously, I can't see a magnet on the filter doing anything but good. Might not ever catch much, but for $8, you can hardly go bad.

Yup. That magnet will trap all the magnetic monopoles that are in the Amsoil.

Hey, true story, as some know here. Hey, all but 2 of the 7 broken teeth ended up on the drain plug magnet. thats where magnets need to be.
the other 2 teeth remained floating in the oil pan for a full racing season!
