Rear Seat Removal.
In my 89 S4 I have found water under one of my rear seat cushions, probably from a leak in the rear hatch. I had a quick try at removing the seatback and squab but couldn't find any fasteners. I don't know if the various parts are fixed with snap fixings or even glued into place and don't want to damage trim by pulling to hard.
Could someone who has done this job guide me through the rear seat removal process. Thank you.

first you pull out the bottom seats they are glued in. If you only need to remove the water then you can stop here.
If you also want to remove the seat backs,
Then remove the screws that hold the rear console on with rear air the grill come off then the 4 screws that hold to tops of the arms to the AC unit are removed then carefully spread the arms and lift this will free the console then you can remove the 4 allen screws that secure the seats and the 2 trim screws that hold down the rear carpet behind each seat back

Without AC:
Fold the seats forward to the flat position.
Remove the screws that hold the carpet from the back of the seats to the read deck.
Pull carpet forward to reveal hinge on the outer side of the seat with two allen bolts.
Pull lever and extend seat further forward (should be possible now with carpet freed)
Remove allen bolts from behind seat. I didn't have a hex socket, so I used a T-45 Torx and made short work of it.
Once those bolts are out, pull outer side of seat toward you and rotate inner out of the pocket on the center console, seats should come right out.
