I found an '85 32v at a local junkyard, I read the mileage but I forgot now... it was over 100k and under 200k that's all I remember. I was wondering if anyone needed anything. I don't feel like taking off anything hard like a fender or the engine. But the intake is missing and the 4v heads look like they're easy to take off... will they come off with the engine in the car? I could at least grab the cams for someone. If you need something let me know, I was going to go back tomorrow.
The interior wasn't really in great shape, and the exterior was alright. It was some kind of dark blue metallic, like navy blue but with some gray. I think it's called marine blue.
I'm not looking to make money, I just thought if there are any super-awesome parts from 1985 that you guys here are always looking for, maybe I could grab them for you.

The heads have studs, so it's impossible to get them out without engine removal I think...Cams...yes. I don't need them right now, but someone will want those S3 cams....

I wouldn't mind a spare set of '85-'86 cams... (before all of them are gobbled up by S4 owner's w/S3 envy.)
They shouldn't be too hard to remove. You have to make sure to unbolt the bearing caps progressively in a crosswise pattern so as to not bend them!

Removing the caps progressively is wise, but not due to bending. The cam is very brittle, it will snap in some cases. Cams are always useful.

The exhaust cam lobe for S3's & GT's are identical in profile and timing. The intake cam lobe for the S3's and the GT's are essentially identical in profile but the S3's are retarded 8°.
The driver's side S3 exhaust cam does have to be modified with a longer journal to fit the S4 heads. All 4 cams need to be shortened too. I have a set of modified S3 cams in my screamer motor.
In some ways (depending on what you're after) the S3 cams are better than GT cams. (hi porken!) I like to think of them as "GT+" cams.

interesting thanks for the info I really appreciate it. Curious if anyone has a done a back to back dyno stock vs S3 cams to see some proven HP numbers.

There is no way they can pull the engine and ship it?

Alright, I guess the cams and the temp sensor on the alternator are the only things I should grab.
It is entirely possible to remove the whole engine and ship it, but I really don't feel like it... I would be reluctant to do that even if I wanted the engine for myself, let alone as a favor. I am sorry.
