Exclamation SOS...HELP...HELP...Bill Ball is in trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill just called and said he's just East of Tucson, AZ and broke down.

He said something BIG fell off a truck and he hit it directly...he said it tore up some exhaust and now his AT trans will not shift so he can't move!

He's currently jacking it up to see what the damage is.

Any ideas what could've gotten damaged to cause his trans not to shift??

ANYONE NEAR HIS LOCATION OR ANYONE KNOW WHO MIGHT BE DRIVING IN THAT DIRECTION?? He said he's approx 200 mile West of Las Cruces, NM.

If it hit his pan and dumped the oil then it will not shift.

Best to call a tow truck and start getting it home.

hopefully the pan isnt cut and leaking, Or otherwise crushed and not letting the fluid get sucked into the pumps.
If the exhaust is damaged then its possible that the ex pipes could have hit or damaged the shifter quadrant.
Also the cable could have become dislodged from the shifter arm on the driver side of the trans
Bill lives in northern CA so a tow home isnt really the best idea.
This might be able to be fixed on the road, I hope

He said the pan is OK...the cable is my best guess since it runs above the TT...will keep you guys posted when he calls back...bad part is it's hot as hell down there and he's in the middle of desert.

Default UPDATE

Bill just called and said he's on the road...the car trans is stuck in 3rd, but he's moving. Looks like the trans heat shield might be the culprit and we'll get him squared away when he gets here

He said the left aft pipe was mangled like a pretzel, so we might be on hold in the AM for the exhaust guy to get to work.

Best news is he's not stuck in the heat and he's on the road!!

Good news... if he can't keep rolling maybe those of us with AAA Plus accounts could band together and set up a "free 100-mile tow" relay. I just upgraded to 200-mile towing and will gladly throw in.

Wow, this is pretty scary! I'm glad Bill is unharmed and back on the road!

Stuff flying off trucks has freaked me out more than once. I have barely missed a variety items, including a refrigerator sized cardboard box - which fortunately turned out to be empty once it hit the road. Unfortunately, Felipe Massa was not that lucky in Hungary last weekend...

Hopefully, Bill can continue the trip to Dallas - either in his car or as a passenger with someone else.

good at least he is rolling, you guys can make quick work of the issues with the exhaust guy and some small repairs, he should be okay!

Stuck in 3rd in a supercharged 928...so what you're really saying is he'll arrive at the normally scheduled time.
