Sharky's new owner.... :>(

Well its official....the socal 928 group has a new member in Steve Porter who is the new "caretaker" of sharky...my beloved 1988 S4..... I am confident Steve will provide a proper home for sharky and care for her in the way she is accustomed...
We did stop by Bills on the way back to my house...& did a compression check....as expected every cylinder was over 190psi...with some going really high...above 210+psi after 7-8 cranks..one was nearly 220psi....I guess that explains the high dyno #'s of 286whp.....
Heres some pics from today as Steve left for the drive home.

Steve, I'd avoid I-5 going over the Grapevine. Seems to be a bad strech of road for 928s. I got a ticket there for speeding while bringing my car to Doc Brown's and then Rob's engine fatality. Seems those cars purchased up North would rather not migrate to warmer climes I suppose (mine was from Seattle, Robs from Portland).

Brian's car has had my eye since Devek Day events. Always exceptionally clean and nice. Steve will continue that tradition I'm very sure. We will have it here for inspections just to make sure.
I forgot to PM Bill to have the bearing tool in Steve's car for the free ride down. Hope Steve remembered better than I didn't...

Brian, Thanks for the pics - Glad you found a good home for Sharky!! I'm sure Sharky will be missed!
Hmm...so I sold a rock solid reliable, top performing 928 to keep 2 928s that DON'T RUN....
Yes I am insane
Thanks for all the good wishes! Sharky and I are currently in S.F. Bay Area visiting friends who are all very impressed, to put it mildly. Most just cannot believe that this a 21-year old car.
Brian: Thanks for getting and keeping Sharky in such fantastic condition and for being so helpful througout the (long) sales process.
(Note: Brian also called ME the next morning to make sure everything was going OK and to answer any questions I had about getting familiar with Sharky. That's the kind of community spirit that makes the 928 fraternity way cool!)
Bill: Haven't found the opportunity to do the Itallian tune up yet.
Maybe in the dead of night on the way back to L.A.---my own private open road race down Hwy 5??? Naw, I can't really risk having Sharky become property of the great state of California...! And thanks again for doing the compression check at your place.Dr. Bob: Thanks for all the counsel on how to approach the search for and evaluation of my first 928! I think that Sharky is about about as close to a no-brainer as you can get! RE the bearing tool, I "mis-remembered" while we were doing the compression check, but since I was driving back to the Bay Area anyway, I just stopped back at Bill's on the way, so it's on its way back to LA. I'm looking forward to getting Sharky over to Dr. Bob's World Headquarters soon and battle-planning the future of Sharky.
Dwayne: I'm pretty new to the 928 community but I've really enjoyed reading about your projects and procedure writeups. If you are around, and I can fit it into my return trip, I'd certainly enjoy bringing Sharky so you can get a closer look. I'd love to see your "collection" of Sharks. PM or email me.
Thanks again to all. You'll all be seeing a lot more of Sharky and me down the line.
