WTB: Iris Blue/Blue GT or GTS
Hi,
I'm thinking of throwing my hat into the ring and purchasing a blue GT or GTS. If anyone knows of a good candidate please let me know and thanks in advance.
BTW, I can't tell you all how impressed I am by the level of support offerred by this group, not to mention the level of technical competance. For what it's worth.
Cheers,
Doug

Hi Doug: There is no such thing as an iris blue GT. This color was not available until 1994, which leaves only two years of the GTS in this color. It is a very rare color also, so you might need some patience to find the right car.
Earlier cars - 1991 to 1993 were available in cobalt blue, which is somewhat similar, but it's also very rare. I don't think there is even a hand full of cobalt blue 928s in the US. See the 928 registry for reference.
You'll have an easier time finding a midnight blue car.

I assume you're looking for a 5spd? Any preference on condition, mileage and price range?

IIRC Iris Blue was a standard color only in 1994. AFAIK there are three Iris 5-speeds and one Iris auto. The latter was sold earlier this year between Rennlist members. RDKinOKC(?) has one of the 5-speeds. Another of the 5-speeds is - rumored to be - a body-damage salvage title car. The other 5-speed is owned by my wife. I've included a picture below to make Nicole drool
And no, it isn't for sale at a non-insane price.

Afshin, I'm waiting for Chuck to trade me his AMG Black Series for Iris
Rob, based on your data it looks to me like Doug should be looking for one of the nine '93 or four '94 blue 5-speeds. The '95 5-speeds are going to be priced for collectors. The Iris 5-speeds are accounted for totally.
But, I'll bet there are plenty of '89-91 blue 5-speeds. And those are very good years.

You'll be lucky to find any blue GTS, little alone an Iris Blue.
Here's my midnight blue (not for sale):
