Angry Tinted Window Ticket *NOW UPDATED*

Just got nailed for tinted windows the front right now. Wasn't speeding, no reckless driving, just tinted windows while doing 60 in a 65 exiting an off ramp. The stink of this is: There was a San Rafael Sherriff right next to me at the stop light and didn't do anything. When the light turned green, he took off and as I moved straight to go into the gas station to pump gas, bam! I get lights on me. The effed up part is, I'm getting a tinted window ticket and 100% of everyone in that station is watching me get it.

So mad right now. The guy said that my ticket CANNOT BE CORRECTED by taking my window tint off. It's written as an infraction but with a "no" checked for "correctable?" Ticket shows: 26708(a)()VC - Front Windows Tinted

Since when did the law change in CA where it's a permanent fine for front tinted windows? I have family that are sherriffs in all southern CA counties practically and they tell me these things usually as I am in communication with them all the time?

Back to my beer and researching to take this to court as a "not guilty." I figure if this state is so much in a deficit, dragging a tinted window case on will pull it more into debt.

You must have got on their radar when you got your 'smoker' letter and then proceeded to publicly denounce it on RL...

Damn Kalifornie Kommies...

Apparently he believes I am complying with the clean air act up here. Still no smoke, just noise. Lots of noise.

Next time roll the windows down and say "What windows"... Followed by, "These are not the droids you're looking for" Works everytime for me.

How dark are your windows? My Dodge Journey came from the factory with a light tint on the driver and passenger windows. Guess I'd be screwed in Ca. Seems you could easily challenge it, just maybe not worth the time and effort?

15%. They are dark, but I have had CHPs come up next to me and give me a thumbs up as they drive by me sometimes. Makes me wonder what's really going on in CA.

Oh don't get me started on that one. This will bump over to OT where I can never respond to it then.

I'm looking up in the search and can't find anyone that had the box checked "No." HOwever, on some of the rice-rocket forums I googled up, everyone has gotten a "no" checked and got it corrected for $15.

I don't want a point on my record (if I even get one for this) as my insurance is about 10% of the water bill here in the Bay Area. I hate this place already and I haven't lived here for a year yet.

You should move to Texas.

On a side note, does anyone else think it's excessive to have your tint tested at an inspection station for another $10-15? I'm sure it's in the same neck of the woods as Mongo as well. It just seems that some shops, and patrolmen care, and some couldn't give a crap less.

No they don't test at inspection stations for tint here.

Dude I know... the speed mount was great. I was so damned happy that I have no vibrations anymore from the mounts and this happens. And a Sherriff was RIGHT NEXT TO ME and didn't even care to pull me over. I have the worst luck since I moved up here.

One of my son's buddies got pulled over and was given a ticket for excessive tint in a car that had factory tint.

Lucky! It takes them about three seconds to take out the tool and test. Then it costs that much extra. I have yet to be looked at for a ticket though.

Tinted windows IS a correctable violation....the only way you can make it "not" correctable if you can prove a series of violations, which is nearly impossible to do...
