Wow. Great car. Definitely new school vs. old school. Amazingly fast, handles like a race car. Too bad I can't fit my kids in the back seats.

Sounds like it's time to check out some boarding schools.

Is this the 928 Forum? I'm sorry... WTF is a GT-R??

I know I could go to Google, but figured you may take the time to enlighten me.

The GTR is Nissan's super-car offering. Looks like 6 engineers, all with different ideas, decided to each design a portion of the body work. Ugly and the ultimate ricer. But the thing does perform.

Actually, the point of my post was the comparison between the supercar of my childhood, the 928 and what is a bargain supercar of present day. Hence the old school/new school comment.

Here's a great video of the GTR for reference:

Did they take care of that 2 grand it cost to do a max acceleration issue, you know the one where you had to replace the transmission after 7 launches?

I am not trying to be a ***, but I remember when it came out there was a big stink, and then they took the launch feature out and that caused even more of a stink.

And the claimed ring times for a "Stock" car.

Forget the six engineers, this thing is a car designed by the marketing department.

I'm sorry I missed that from your OP. Compelling argument, and you didn't take the time to enlighten anyone.

Hey, lets all compare techology from 30 years ago to today.

i have no doubt they can fix that and then turn the boost up to show how this version is faster at the Ring, but they are never going to be able to put "Soul" in that car.

That car is nearly as ugly as a Pontiac Aztec! OMG, they are ugly! You know it is 2009 now and there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO BUILD AN UGLY CAR! Looks like Chris Bangle must have been helping them out. From the first time I saw a pic of a GT-R I thought...what are they thinking? They can't actually bring a car out that is THAT UGLY can they?! Sure enough they did! In case you missed it I HATE virtually EVER BMW that CB got his hands on too...

The GTR is kind of neat looking, very racy and modern, but all of its eggs are in the go fast basket, no balance to the design. Its a factory hot rod. In all other categories I think it compares rather poorly to the old 928. Five or so years from now it might be just another curiosity car.

They can put a soul patch mini-front splitter on the nose to give it more street cred with the hipsters.

If any of you have not seen it in the flesh, the GTR is HUUuuu-uuuge.
They put monster rims on the car for a reason.

On my list of Supercars, the GT-R would be last. It just doesn't look good to me.

I'll bet it's fun to drive though.
