He gave some clues to the modifications in his letter... not just the cosmetic ones.
Pop over to www.928registry.org and check out the letter from Porsche...
Oh, BTW -Kremer must have sold the molds from that experiment to A.I.R. -its the same kit on my car:

It sounds like the equivalent of a 959 to a 911.

In general, I think collector-car, pile-of-vehicles-you-never-drive people are nuts.
I can make a few exceptions for genuinely historical examples of an entire breed.
Kermit falls in that category, and it makes no sense to judge it against some GT or GTS which you'd enjoyably flog on a daily basis with a big grin on your face.
There is a place for this kind of car. Not in my garage. But there is a place for it, and it's special.
Everyone else? DRIVE your darn cars, ok? I will... .just as soon as I get it back from doc brown!

I doubt that story is true.

I don't see where it is an auto? Also, look at the 959 and its body panels. There are other examples of Porsche putting on exagerated panels to suit a specific purpose (think big ugly whale tail on the Carrera).

It's not:
"The close-ratio gearbox seems perfect for roadracing [on] any short circuit. The close ratios are exaggerated somewhat by the engine's ability to pick up revs very quickly, regardless of load."
...as quoted from the owner's letter. "Close-ratio" implies a manual transmission.
I suppose the Porsche representative that signed the letter is fake too, huh? And, the letter was prominently displayed -large enough to read- in an internationally published magazine... oh yeah... sure sounds fake huh?
Hmmm... what other 928's had stickers on them? How about the S4? How about the Club Sport? Nah.... decals on a Porsche must be fake.
Right again of course... Porsche doesn't do 'crazy' things with cars -like the 959, GT1, Carrera GT, 928 Cabriolet. Nah.... Porsche would never collaborate with another company to test some of their engineering theories... must be fake.
Gimme a break. This was a one-off design study that has been documented. Kremer is at least documented as making the side mirrors (that look like cousins to others used on the GT1 and Carrera GT) under contract with Porsche.
Now, if we only had a time machine to go back and look at the factory to prove who did what...

Here is a pic of a latebody that Rinnspeed created... similar, yet different than the GTE.
Check out those body colored BBS wheels!

Sorry to have contributed in the thread going elsewhere!
Now, back on topic. Here is a pic of Chuck's 'Kermit' at the Porsche Parade in Charlotte, NC 2008... what a beauty!
