What a day! Ricer made me laugh at least 3 times this am, what with "porno", chix on the hood, and sumthin' else, forget just what, then it was DR in a thong and a burning bag of coal, and now we have "pious" and "primus"... Thanks guys, keeping a sense of humor these days is REALLY IMPORTANT! Jeez, the greatest list ever...

Seriously, you folks are missing the point here. The program to report smoking cars can be effective if it ISN'T abused. I'm all for reporting smokers, and also reporting false and malicious reporting. Encourage folks to report responsibly.
Andy, does the letter require you to respond or take corrective action of any kind? If it's just an observation/suggestion letter, shred it and move on. There are important things to worry about... Who's buying the next round? Important stuff like that.

I wonder how many trees get cut down to make the paper involved with things like these notices. How much fossil fuel is burned in the manufacture and delivery of them, in addition to the carbon footprint of all of that?

I had a couple more issues with the car. Just comes from sitting for awhile and then getting it running again. I need to get on a mailing list because I never know what is going on. I am available all weekends this summer when is the next drive?

I'm Condo Association trained, I respond politely denying everything to all letters. Otherwise you end up in some file as "already warned" about X or Y and presumed guilty. Respond politely in the negative and now the presumption is that the complainer made a mistake.

To hell with that. If the police come to your door, then you should do something about it. That sounds like some non-profit bull**** to me. It's an old car, and a collectors item. I'll bet you a million dollars Jay Leno doesn't get that crap when he drives his Model T around. Just throw the letter away and don't think anything more of it.

Mongo... there is another idea I had. If it has a physical return address, show up in a borrowed (or rented) gas mizer car and ask rather pointedly and angrily... WTF?!?

Unfortunately the human race evolved to become incompatible with nature and our position on earth has become untenable.
The human race is doomed and there's nothing anyone can do about it and anyone trying is wasting their time and yours.
I would advise you have as much fun as you possibly can with what time you have left and if that includes driving a 928 then so be it. [works for me]
Its all to late – we should have never come down from the trees.
