That radar unit qualifies as carry-on, right? But Bill just needs a good reason to pop for that V-1 anyway. Hmmmm. Decisions, decisions...

Darien [et.al.], you can definitely haul ballz from El Paso to Midland, then Midland to Abilene. Careful around Abilene... coppers are waiting. Take it easy around Ranger as well.
I did the run from McKinney [far North Dallas] to Midland about a month ago... only spotted one radar gun the whole way [in Abilene].
If you stop in Midland... make your way by the Hemingway [good beer, good cigars, good pipes, great conversation].
When you make it to Fort Worth [if you're here early]... try Joe T. Garcia's... ask for a pitcher of Margaritas... and leave happy.![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)

Jim/Bill,
If you guys jumped on I-25 at Albuquerque then over on Hwy 380 at San Antonio, NM that's nice mountainous ride and will go through Roswell.
You could also take Hwy 54 off Hwy 380 then down to Hwy 82 and head NE and you'll see some beautiful scenery as well.
If we took either route, the goal would be to get over to I-20 into DFW![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
Roger mentioned that the speed limit on I-20 east of El Paso is up to 80/85.

If ANY of you go to Joe T's, post it here on R-list. I will be there. Pitcher of Margaritas are about 28 duckets, but well worth it. And they only accept cash, no checks or credit cards. They do have an ATM on site.

The wifey and I may be ahead of the caravan.
We plan to leave Monday mid-afternoon and hope to make it to somewhere between Moab and Cortez Monday night depending on when we leave home.
We'll be hooking up with I-40 at Albuquerque and planning to stay in Amarillo Tuesday night.
But then we'll head straight south to Lubbock to check out that town - since my youngest daughter and her hubby will be moving there in early August. You know how moms are...
Plan to arrive in either Dallas or McKinney Wednesday night and spend some time with the other married daughter.
But if anyone's traveling on one of those days and happens to see a red GTS carrying a beautiful woman and an ugly guy, honk! We'll pull over at the next exit and chat.

I'm thinking that a group hug and shared list of cellphone numbers is appropriate for those sharing even a short stretch of highway. Plus we'll all be updating progress along the way here on RL, right?
How many are going to be travelling with just the toolkit tools?

Even as I know Rocket is solid, I always carry a few extra tools for "just in case"![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Me too, although I don't really carry much. There's a small canvas tool bag in the back with a mini socket set and a set of mini 10ga jumper cables.. The rest of the bag is stuffed with window cleaner, instant detail spray, and microfiber towels. I keep a couple old bath towels in the spare tire well for more serious road emergencies. Better to do all that serious work stuff at home before you leave, I figure. For this trip, I'll add a detailing bucket to use when I get there. Somebody mentioned that they carry a string-patch tire repair kit with them too. Might throw that in since it's small. There's always a healthy flashlight in the car and a fire extinguisher, by the way.

Bob- Just to curse you, do you want your spare brain back? I can pop it it in the mail.

Me carrying tools. Now there's a funny thought!
I do generally carry a pretty good first aid kit - so I guess it depends upon what kind of tools...

Great idea. Mine is rebuilt already but it's good to have one along for the others just in case. I'll see you before then for the painted stuff, and to get the GT motor back in in July. Have you heard anything from the painters?

Note to self--
Add a first aid kit to the car. I think I'm qualified on Band-Aids but struggle with the gauze thingies and the tape.
