Perhaps like many people here, I don't know how he got banned. Here is an explanation from the man himself (quotes from his Pelican postings):
"I was never told why I was banned, and I don't think I ever violated any of the terms of service. All of the pm's between RandyV and myself at the time were about how, not if I would continue, changing the account name etc.
The "danglerb." stuff popped up, and a moderator should have known from the IP who was doing it, but instead "danglerb." was allowed to post anonymously for about a week. My impression is that a number of older members who didn't understand IP addresses blamed me and complained directly to JohnD.
When some of the "danglerb." posts were finally deleted, so were some of mine, and I was informed that all of my posts were now to be monitored and edited or deleted at RandyV's discretion. That led to an especially nasty thread of abusive personal attacks directed at me, that was allowed to run its course without restriction.
I decided if I was going to get second class treatment being a member instead of a user was meaningless, and I asked for a refund of my membership fees. 15 minutes later I was banned."
So, a poser using "danglerb." (period point after name) was allowed to post ridiculous comments; no research was conducted to identify the real user via the IP address; Mike Ford (the real danglerb) was blamed, censored, counseled, tried and convicted... all without due process. And to top it off -he is not allowed to even view the information-packed threads.
"As it is now all images or other files hosted on rennlist are blocked, and that makes many helpful threads impossible to follow. ... I don't think any owner or enthusiast should be permanently denied access to the information stored on rennlist."
So everyone... are we all in this '928 enthusiast' thing together -or are we all self-imposed masters of all we survey and do the 'my way or the highway' dance like playground bullies?

Remember Barry,
There are 3 sides to every story, yours, his, and the truth.
I don't care either way, but 3 or 4 threads about this topic is just too ****ing much. Let's move it to Off Topic where it all belongs.

No, not really, actually not at all.
I hope you do understand that just because the spark plug is in the middle, it does not mean it is a hemispherical combustion chamber, which the 928 is not.
Not sure where you came up with thinking the 928 is a Hemi.
Also 4Matic is the designator for a 4 wheel drive system that MB uses, which the 928 is not.
Just thought you might like to know.

There have been quite a few publications over the years describing the 928 engine as having a hemispherically shaped head.
I'm not saying it is (I know it's not) just answering your question where some people might have gotten the idea.

My best friend is a gun writer, and I know full well why the 928 was described as being a Hemi, it was all about how many adds they could sell by making the product bigger and better than it actually was/is.
I know that you and most here know it is not a Hemi, I just wanted to make it clear to those that dont know.
Not trying to stir any chit up at all.

Yes, I know... 'HEMI' is a trademarked word for the Chrysler Corporation. They are the only ones 'legally' allowed to use it. However, even the 'HEMI' is not a true hemisphere. There never has been a true hemispherical combustion chamber on anything. There have been some close approximations, but the flat valve faces prevent it. I merely took liberties to personalize my car... allow me to explain my reasoning behind the 2 badges:
HEMI:
Chrysler:
90 degree V8 engine
Semi-hemispherical combustion chambers with opposing intake & exhaust runners
Spark plug centrally located at chamber apex
Porsche:
90 degree V8 engine
Semi-hemispherical combustion chambers with opposing intake & exhaust runners
Spark plug centrally located at chamber apex
"If it looks like a hemi, runs like a hemi, sounds like a hemi, it must be a _____."
4MATIC:
Mercedes Benz:
Automatic Transmission
4 forward gears; 1 reverse gear
All wheel drive
Porsche:
Automatic Transmission made by Mercedes Benz
4 forward gears; 1 reverse gear
Rear wheel drive... but all wheel grip!
Sure, the badges are not stock and they are certainly not Porsche.
Let's think about some other things that are not Porsche or 928:
Ruf; Rinnspeed; AIR; Strosek; Jaquemond; Koenig; etc. body kits
Roots or centrifugal Superchargers
Turbos (on 928s anyway)
Nitrous oxide injection
Stroker motors
Programmable injection & ignition chips
Aftermarket headers
Aftermarket wheels
All-aluminum radiators
Drilled brake rotors (on 928s anyway)
RMBs
Any stereo system other than Blaupunkt
Clear lenses/painted lenses (on 928s anyway)
Painted rear spoilers on other than GTS's (on 928s anyway)
You get the idea... I love all that stuff too. Anything that improves the car; the ownership; the driving experience -is allright with me.
But its not PORSCHE either, is it?
