You could do 968 pistons and get a near 5.4 liter. (with a stock S4 crank and that would be a cool set up) But, after all that work, you might as well put a stroker crank in there with rods to match and get the 6.4 liters.

Didn't I read stuff about 6.0-6.5L using 968 pistons or something like that?

How a stroker crank/rod give almost 1 more L over S4 crank? Longer displacement?

The hybrid set up goes like this:
  • 5.0 short block
  • prefer euro heads but not necessary if USA heads are ported
  • Must have Euro TB and intake runners
  • 32v SS exhaust manifolds, dual or 3" single exhaust
  • Can keep L-Jet or CIS
For N/A engine this combo yields 280-300 HP and lots of torque. DIY cost around $1500 to 2K
Add a S/C and pick a horsepower range 400-500.

I'm oversimplifying the process but in an OB 5.0L is the logical choice to more HP. 32v conversions have been done but be prepared for more $$/time/and headache.

stroker crank goes from 78.9 stroke to 90mm+ stroke (I forgot exact number)

bore goes only from 100mm to 103.7mm
