That car is in incredibly good shape for its age. You can tell that the previous owners took very good care of it. Great combo too.

This is a great car! I checked it out for Ed a little while back. I was amazed by the interior condition, and the paint is amazingly good for it's age. And what a color it is, very striking in person.
The shifter felt fine to me. I think most of sloppy feel is in that "cow femur" shifter.
Here's one of the pics I took. I could eat steak of that fuse panel!
Great score, Ed. Godspeed.

What's with the jumpers in the relay blocks? Is this normal for a '78?

That car still looks fantastic - I love the color combo (and no rubstrips and no sunroof!).
BTW, I'm driving my truck out to Maryland tomorrow (from California) but won't be in Virginia until Monday - too bad I wasn't able to leave a day earlier - it would have been great to meet you in person and see Blue Maxx again! Have a safe and enjoyable ride home!!

That second bridge is where they decided to bridge the AC speed relay. Normally, this relay is activated by a tach signal and will only allow the AC compressor and idle solenoid to activate when the car is running. It's an expensive relay, NLA new I think.
The downsides to doing this are that if the AC is on you will be turning the AC compressor while cranking, and you will have a leaner than normal A/F mix while cranking.
If you remember to turn off the AC when cranking, the net effect of having this jumper is zero.

She is truely awesome! I am looking at a 86 5spd. She will be my first girl. Is there a big difference in performance between the late 70's and a 86 5spd? I really love them all. Also what does OB stand for, can't figure that out. Also where did you find her?

Jim - the Blumaxx is sweet and so clean! Thanks for the fuse panel shot by the way. Iwana, found it thru this fantastic resource. It's my first 5 speed too, and the more I drive it, the more I love it. My last two were autos. I will say tho, if I didn't live out where the roads are wide and open, I wouldn't want a stick. Driving around DC today was truely nerve wracking.
Any way, back to the wedding reception - my scotch needs a refill!
