Tried Dave..........loosend the screw, gained a few mm of cable, fitted the connector to the bracket but its still very tight trying to get the sensor over the cover. I'm doing this on the bench (kitchen table...........dont tell the SO).

The OEM routing seems wrong to me, even with the longer cable.........unless we have definitive reasoning as to why I'm going to invert the connectors held in place by the OEM bracket and spring clip.

Well, if the connector on the LH engine harness points "down" to connect to the Hall sensor, then I don't think you will be able to route the cable under the timing belt cover. If you cannot, then you'll be routing the cable over the belt cover and it will be really close to one or more of the spark plug wires. I'm thinking the Hall sensor branch of the engine harness does not want to be near spark plug wires.

From a dry test tonight the LH cable has more 'give' to be oriented 'down' to the Hall sensor.

I'll double check tomorrow with the covers in situ.

I'll also triple check leaving the screw off of the sensor cable to max the length.

Perhaps Bosch are conserving every mm of cable with their new sensors.......sign of the tight $$$ times?
