Dan - Your car is going to be incredible and I can't wait to see the final product! Missed you and the Zyclamrot car at OCIC, wish you had been there. Take care! - JW

BTW - can you share any details about the paint job: materials, brands, processes, etc? Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments! Sorry I missed OCIC, I was all ready to go, but had a family emergency come up I had to deal with.

The paint is hardened acrylic. NLA in some states like CA. Same for the clear that is about to be applied after the paint dries and de-gasses. The base color is the original from the factory Turquoise Metallic. I have not seen the car in person, just the pics that you see here. It looks brilliant with a lot more depth to it. You can really tell when you compare the before to the after. The paint is Glassurit or something similar in name. Expensive stuff (I will have almost $3k just in paint product on the car when it receives its final coat. That stuff is eeeeeeeeexpensive, but will be worth it.)

The car has been primed a number of times through the project and to date have replaced the hood and both fenders due to the misalignment of the car when I bought it. Ron Ruff, like many of the carftspersons that frequent here, just cannot accept anything but perfection.

Progress is the key. Seeing it in paint is significant. Same as when I saw the engine back in the car.

Many thanks Dan! That's the information I was interested in. I'd love to have mine fully resprayed someday, as the miles certainly take their toll (mine currently has ~ 93K).

P.S. - I hope all is well with you and your family!

Dan, my hat is off to both you and Tony (^^^^^^) for taking great 928's and totally making them your own and making them GORGEOUS and amazing!

Hope to see you soon Dan! With this car and the Zyclomenrot car you will have a pair of 928's that exceed ALL OTHERS I think... Just saying! They are BOTH amazing!

Wow Dan !! .. that colour is beautiful. I can't wait to see pics of the finished product.

Glasurit paint sure is expensive but it gives a fantastic result. My 82 was resprayed using Glasurit, and I'll be repainting the front bumper on the GTS soon, and using that too.

All is fine with the family now. When you come form a large family there always seems to be some sort of calamity.

If you like I can dig up the receipts and forward the details of the different paint products. Let me know.

Thanks for the compliments James and Dave. There is a much broader story to the color that I will share when the entire project is completed. This car means so very much to me.

WOW Dan, that is looking great. So sorry you weren't able to make it to OCIC. Perhaps we should schedule another OCIC, after your car is completed. I'm sure Jarrod Wise's car and your car would be a great "shoot out" event for best concours prize!! Can't wait to see your car when completed - just may need to schedule a trip to AZ for in person viewing.

GREAT WORK by all who've touched it.

Glad to hear the family crisis is over and I hope everyone is well. Wish the timing had been different so you could have gotten to Wichita.

Cheers,

Gary--

I appreciate the kind words, Gary, BUT...when the trophies for the next OCIC are prepared, we might as well FedEx them to Dan - 'cause that's where they're headed!

I'm confused about the part that involved replacing panels due to misalignment? Were the mounting points for the panel hardware elongated?

I think J-Rod is right about this! The Turquoise car will be pretty much untouchable when it is done!
