Default Made in Germany words....maybe too big?

Hey all, Just staring at the 928 watch and had a thought I would like to offer up. Do you guys think we need the large "made in Germany" words? The more I look at this watch, the more I think the design is world class / perfect. I'm starting to think the watch would be more elegant, if the words were removed and just placed in small tiny type at the 6:00 position -- where a Swiss watch would say Swiss made. (see enclosed) Ours could just say German Made or Made in Germany.

Dont' get me wrong, I am buying this watch no matter what, but I am starting to think it could be better- if simplified. Maybe the big words across the face are over kill and not needed? Just some food for thought.

Not to stir the pot or create work for those who have put so much into this, but I'm in agreement with sweet928 on this one... subtlety is the way to go.

You guys are WAY, WAY, WAY to late for that! This has been at the makers getting prototyped for 5 weeks or so now... The days for "design" changes were about 2 MONTHS AGO!

On the "made in germany" real small at the 6:00 position...even though TOO LATE, I thought I would add an explanation.

Several of the 25 or so iterations we went through had the "Made in Germany" and/or "928" and "Shark" at the 6:00 postion very very small like some "Swiss Made" watch designs, AND...It looked BAD!!! Very bad, because even very very small it optically becomes part of the 928 silhouette and messes up the "clean look". It is the same reason there are no minute or hour marks near or under the 928 silhouette.

At least it doesn't say Made in West Germany like it says on the metal tag on the driver's door sill.

I knew our resident designer would chime in here with a MUCH better explanation that I gave! Thanks RKD! Did you kick anyone's butt in an Auto-X this weekend with your bad GTS?! Hope so!

Be cool everyone and keep watching this space for that AWESOME day when we say, "THEY ARE IN!"

Still trying to get a good alignment on it after the sticky tires I put on. Mechanic claims bent tie rod is causing toe to wander under side loading. We will see.

Ha, I thought the made in germany, referred to the car, not the watch. I guess it's both.

Guys there are many many custom strap producers out there, just a couple are Hadley-Roma and Hirsch. I've got straps from both of them in my collection and they have some very nice stuff, and will probably order a couple more to go with this watch. Hey I like changing them. Now if you want to go crazy, there are other much higher-end strap makers too...some straps will cost more than the watch!

BTW Chris, what is the lug width? Just looking into some custom straps.

Putting your own custom strap on a custom limited edition watch, that's just crazy. You think you can just customize anything?

So....what's the "ordering" process here? Is a new thread starting or PM someone......

Maybe add this info to the OP along with a list 1-100 showing which numbers are already taken?

Kinda help generate that urgentness as numbers start to fill up.

No Deposits or pre-payments from anyone until I get the prototype in my hands and it is 100% acceptable. I have tried my hardest to get everything right the first time so we can get the production run here!
Once the prototype is here and is approved and the production is under way, I will ask for a deposit and we will start a new thread.
Those who choose to pay in full will receive a free gift related to this Limited Edition watch. It is being made as we type.
Rennlist members price is $595
$729 for any watches remaining after members are done (there will be a cut off date, still working on that) .
I should have the prototype at Sharktoberfest so members can see the REAL finished watch!
