Mark led the first couple of laps, but then got passed by the 911 in the twisties. For the first half of the race, the coolest thing was watching Mark's car catch up to the 911 before it entered the infield. There was a crash towards the end of the banked section with what I think was two or three laps left in the race. (couldn't make out what happened or what kind of car/cars were involved..Didn't bring any binoculars with us.) The yellow flag went up and the field closed back up. After they got it cleaned up and the yellow was lifted, Mark immediately got out front again. It was GREAT hearing those German V8's scream by. The 911 got by again, but the three of them stayed together distancing the field by many lengths quickly again. I spoke to Mark afterwards and found out the 911 wasn't running hard through the banked section.. But it was still a lot of fun watching the 928 close that gap so fast. By the end of the race the rest of the field were a long way back. Congrats on the finish Mark and Joe!
Mark, are you running tomorrow too?

Mark A. and Joe F.
Congratulations! Really not a surprise, except for the added drama of the 5th gear crack.
For the record, both 928 racers have a stroker built by Greg B., Mark A. has a dry sump and Joe F. has an accusump for extra oiling duties. Correct?
Any other facts such as the type of gear boxes, clutches, wheels/tires sizes and other suspension mods helpful to others trying to follow both of your formulas would be helpful. Better than spending a bunch of money needlessly. That is if you can share without giving away secrets.
Just trying to keep this straight for possible future fun.

I think Joe's is pretty close to mine as far as set up besides the CF intake, heads, F50 brakes, wide body kit with huge wheels and tires and increased track width. 500+rwhp vs my 370rwhp caused him to get the racing clutch a couple of years ago after shreding stock clutches with even the higher pressure, pressure plate. Suspension, Joe has the modified pickups for use of the roundy-round shocks and custom springs. I've driven the car, it is a monster!

Hi Mark K.!
Yep, just the sort of details I think many potential racers would like to find out.
No way around it, to set up a 928 racer to run with the big dogs requires money, although a lot less than buying a 996/997 cup car and keeping that up for race seasons.
About your racer, I thought you were getting a bit more to the ground? Even more impressive when viewing your race videos against some pretty heavy machinery.
So how are our two racers doing today?
Cheers,
Constantine

Yes very nice job, can something be done about 5th gear. From what I know, there is two options, superfinishing and the deep freeze treatment, I think given the massive cost of this part, I will have to look at this before my engine goes in. I do know of two stardard 928s that have broken 5th gear too, so a real problem somewhere.
Also 1:42 doesn't mean much to me as I don't know the track, is there other times for some standard cars like GT3s or Ferrari's so I can get an idea of the pace of the white zombie.

the 2008 Farbacher Loles RSR did a 1:40, he out qualified me but I beat him in the race today.

I found the crack just a few days ago so not enough time to order a new gear and have Greg install it. I am going to consider having it treated in some fashion to see if it can be improved on.
