I believe it, got a winner on your hands.
Will these fit the 944 also?
I will start trying to sell them if they will.

Don't forget Porsche did not place the heavy TT dampener in the TT for the GT 928 models.

Three steel units would give a lot of heft to the TT which, although it will be very smooth, would not quite fit the sporting nature of the GT.

But it's up to you.

And yes the 5 speeds all use the 25mm drive shafts.

Please let me know what you need by PM. Already got a few PMs and the supplies are dwindling, believe it or not!

Kind regards,

I'd like to order the Heavy Duty 3 Steel and Super Clamp TT Kit ($810). However, I want to install it on Virginia (early '87 - #0349). Is there any way to tell by inspection if I have the 25mm shaft without taking the torque tube out??

If it is a 87 auto and it has not been changed, it should be a 28MM shaft.

I am not sure if you can tell with it in, I have some pictures that may show how far back the taper is, if I can find one that shows that I will post them Monday for you. (on my work computer)

Or you can buy a 25MM shaft from one of the used parts guys like Mark and have the better shaft.

I put a 25 MM in my 87.

Hi Dwayne,

Just answered your PM by the way.

Yes you can check on the drive shaft by removing the front flexplate cover and measure the drive shaft that way. The drive shaft will be at it's true diameter right before it enters into the TT. The 28mm drive shaft has a pretty noticable step down to the front splines, while the 25mm has a small, turned, step down.

I attached a photo showing a 25mm.

Thanks Greg for helping out too!

HTH,
Constantine

My 88 S4 has a 25mm drive shaft. I have most of the maint. records and the torque tube is original as far as I can tell.
That said, my 87 has a 28mm TT but I don't know if it was replaced before. I have a spare TT which was rebuilt by 928 International in 05 and it is 25mm.

Constantine,
Awesome products as always. Your designs deserve acolades and move the 928 into the future as Porsche should have done had they continued production.

For the potential buyers out there I have two "Constantine Clamps" aka "Super Clamps" for sale at $275 each. These are the very best design in combating the problems we face with TBF failure.
My Loss your gain - first two PM's get them. This is a very special price and will not be repeated agian I am sure.

Constantine keep up the great work and I look forward to more of your engineered solutions in the future.

Roger

Hi Greg,

Missed this question earlier.

No these parts will not fit the 944 TT. However we are finishing up the prototypes for them at the moment and will give a few out for testing. The way these came out, the 924/944/968 ones should work out great too!

Cheers,
Constantine

OK....This morning I remembered checking crankshaft end play on Virginia a few months back and, of course, I had taken a few pictures. Don't know why I didn't remember this last night! Anywho, saved me getting under the car to check on the shaft this morning. Here's the pic. It looks just like the pic of the 25mm Constantine posted. I'll take the kit! PM sent.

Hi Dwayne,

Yep, that's a 25mm drive shaft. I answered your PM and your parts are reserved!

Thank you!
Constantine

What are "A28 cars"?

Do all 25mm shafts have the circlip setup?

Charley: The groove will be there but they stopped installing the shim kit in 85. However, the shims, retainer and cirlip are still available.
