Just a thought for people making pieces/thinking about making pieces for the 928's.
It would seem, to me, that there is a very limited market for viable pieces for the 928 models. There are not many of these cars and there are not many customers.
Duplication of other's efforts is probably not needed or a very good idea, in the long run.
Do we need another version of the Porkensioner or another version of Constantine's clamp, for example? Seems almost dishonest or immoral, to make "alternative" versions of stuff....I know that I would be pissed off if someone copied my ideas....and I'd certainly plan a trip to come by and "visit".
While I'm not in touch with the personalities involved and the reasonings behind making alternative versions of things....it certainly seems strange.

As you know the spacers have been around for many years and in use by many. Who came up with the idea in the first place, who knows - someone probably knows from way back when. If you think I am copying Carl's product then you are wrong. Carl copied it from someone just as I did. My product is superior and better reflects the needs of the market.
I had to start making my own products because Carl refused to sell them to me even though I was prepared to pay full price. He also made some very unpleasant statements about me, and luckily for me I had a number of friends and customers in the office listening to his conversation, as witnesses.
He also refered to the active cartel between certain suppliers to ensure people like me were excluded from the market. I call that very strange and unethical.
If this is the sort of business ethics you support then I am disapointed in you as I held both you and your business in the highest esteem. I am sure I am wrong on this.
I have an extremely succesful business and my growth plans are large. I see markets for products and I will meet those demands.
Its called free enterprise.
I will continue to expand as the market demands new inovations and products.

As I said, I don't know or understand the politics or reasons behind people developing products, especially similar products. If Carl won't sell you pieces and your customers need to buy them from you and can't get them from Carl, you certainly should be able to make them....as you clearly are doing. Your o-ring is a good addition, as I said, yesterday.
If you and Carl are having a war, that's a shame. This is a very small market and since we all have the same interests in common, it doesn't seem like that would be necessary. Making the same/similar stuff seems a bit like two couples tripping over each other on an otherwise empty dance floor, but that is for you guys to work out.
There's a rather big business that is involved in the 911 racing business...which is huge, compared to the 928 world. The owner of that company is a complete sleaze and copies anything and everything. Everyone that is "in the business" hates him and no one buys anything from him, that they can't get somewhere else, even if it means paying more. No one will ever sell him anything, first hand...he has to copy things from a sample off of a car. He'll eventually go broke...and everyone will laugh and be happy.
I support no other's business ethics...mine have always spoken for themselves. You need not be disappointed.

(Note: from what I remember in my lurking here, Sterling wasn't the first either with spacers).
If a vendor were to infringe a patent or copyright owned by others, then that would be an issue between those parties, however, multiple sources of the same product isn't a bad thing for us as customers.
Do you consider buying a Laso water pump to be a problem?

I have been selling the SuperClamp for over two years and had three left in stock. Once the supplier (Constantine) decided to sell at a price less than what I paid for them and market them directly I decided to cut my losses and sell quickly. Which is what I did. Not good having $1200 sitting on a shelf.
I have no intention of making a super clamp as the design already exists and it belongs to Constantine.
I will be making a cheaper clamp that anyone can fit to there cars without removing the TT or dropping the gearbox. It will be a tempory fix that will be better than the existing clamp and but not an ultimate fix as is the super clamp.

Well, Im glad we got that all out of the way.
I still wonder if we really carved out that stock intake on the S4, if we could see some gains. Not just extrude hone, but really carved that thing out.
Do you think there are some gains to be found there?
Plus, what if the spacers had round covers instead of the flat covers, further expanding the plennum chamber.
