Nthing says midlife crisis like a LOTUS.

If it's for you and the wife, that would of course be a bad choice.

The 928 already covers my unique-sports-gt-huge-torque needs.

The wife enjoys her MB SL500 convertible, which makes for a decently comfortable roadster.

Then there's the 06 TSX which gets 30+ mpg, carries 5 around town or on trips, and happily swallows large trunkloads of whatever. I honestly preferred it's predecessor, a selflessly loyal 95 Mitsubishi Diamante Wagon, but alas the wife felt it was a fashion mistake.

I am with Alan. You already have a great sporty ride. I would look at something you could use for other purposes.

My company car is an '09 Dodge Voyager SUV. I own an '06 Nissan Desert Runner mid size pickup already as well. Drive one all week, one just to the dump, moving furniture adn pulling the trailer. I also have a 31' '02 RV. Plenty of slow choices already.

My budget changed slightly yesterday. My middle daughter was complaining her '97 grandprix is a terd and unreliable. She's tired if waiting for the '78 shark to be fixed as well. IN fact she's not even sure she still wants it, though I think she'll change her mind again when it's running. So feeling a little betrayed... we took her car and traded it in on an ORANGE '07 Dodge Caliber. My budget is now just right at $20K. Knocks a couple cars off the list. Guess I could get an older Boxter and use the left over for a storker crank and rods..

Buy a replica Cobra, a lot of good deals on those right now.

300hp in a 2,200lb car with a wheelbase 12" shorter than a 928 is a lot of fun.

For that money, there are some nice GT's available here, on Eaby, and on Craigslist.

Careful with pre 2002 boxster and 911s - there were some significant engine issues in the first few years of the watercooled flat 6.
