Default Which car to compliment the sharks?

Okay, midlife crisis point a lilttle early. I'm thinking a new car might help me forget the wife.. or at least get a nice replacement. Test drove both today. Leaning towards the 911 but it's about $8K more.

I have a company car so this would be a weekend driver when not taking the shark out, or more realistically, when the shark is in pieces in the garage.

2006 350Z 6speed, Leather, loaded, ground effects, exhuast and chip. Silver. 285hp?

2001 911 Convertible 6 speed, Leather, loaded, ground effects. No chip, no exhaust. Silver. 300hp?

Thoughts?

Or should I save a little more and get a nice GTS? Need to spend my bonus before the wife gets ahold of it.

Choose which ever you like the most.
I just want to get a job where you work.
That is a hell of a bonus plan you got going.

Dollartree. This economy has really helped us. It's not really that much. Got the 350z down to $17500 and the 911 to $23500. Of course uncle same takes about 44% of any bonus up front.

I say get the 911 Cab out of those two, but I'd explore other options. If the shark is a GT car and not a convertible, I say get a 2 seater convertible that's high power, low on amenities. A Boxster might be more appropriate, and maybe put the money you save towards something nice for it. Perhaps a BMW Z4 or M Roadster? Don't get another heavy-ish front engine coupe, that'll just be too much like the 928. Get something very different, variety is the spice of life and all that stuff.

The Crossfire SRT-6 is dirt cheap right now and I think a very fun car to drive.
We'll its fun when your friend has one and he lets you beat on it at least twice a week.

I was thinking the same thing.. No amount of burlwood will erase the rice..

Can't stand the Boxter for some reason but really like the Cayman. Go figure. Can't find a decent Cayman in my price range. Not financing, cash deal. I 'm also toying with the idea of an S4, SC and J-mod kit, but that would tap me out and take too long to get together. What ever I get is going in my daughters name so the wife can't get halfzeez.

911. Every time I hear the exhaust note of a 350Z i throw up a little in my mouth. And then I throw up a lot more. Who thought that sounded good?

I like 911's and the cabs in particular (ok 997TT best then GT3RS...but those are WAY out of your price range)...BUT that body kit SUCKS A$$! Tell them to take that crap off the car and you will buy it for $23k! That seems like a deal to me. I have driven 996's and they are VERY NICE!

If you have a 928 already you might want something that two couples can go out in... I know you said you have a company car but how about an E46 BMW M3? You might find a nice one of those in your price range! I like the E46 better than the current M3 personally...though the new 335i coupe is pretty awesome...

------------flame suit on------------

Personally I would take a Boxster over those two. Forget the chick car BS and go for a real sports car (which means the top must go down & no back seats, per Jeremy Clarkson ).

I was the Boxsters biggest enemy until I took an S model on a 1,000+ mile weekend road trip (I kinda broke the 928 three days before leaving).
They are great cars (get an S)

Setting the cruise at 90mph with the A/C on high while averaging 33+mpg was an added bonus.

I agree, Boxster. Stress dissapers once you get it 100+ on a open country road with top down. Plus their prices have tanked lately, so you will have some money left for upgrades; Screamer exhaust, intake, tires...
Im biased though

Guess I should have clarified. I just don't dig the way the boxster looks in the rear. It's purely cosmetics for me. Honestly I haven't driven one yet.

One of my neighbors has a newer yellow Cayman S with a GTS style wing. Looks uber sexy.

If you like Nissans - For 17.5 I'd take a 2005+ G35. Their interiors are alot nicer, more like 928 (no funky gauges and dont get me started on those door panels).
Performance is similar and so are prices.
The exterior is sexier too.
Just my 2 cents.
