That back hatch adds a refreshing look to the 928. I really like it.
Have you thought about having the rear window removable? Rather like the old 'Vets (late '60s and very early 70's era) where the back window popped and and gave more "free air" flow that added another dimension to the drive (and listening to the sound of the beast).
Cheers

The factory hatch with glass must weigh 80 lbs or more, especially with the heavy S4 spoiler.
Too bad there wasn't an aluminum hatch from the factory...

I'm thinking of making a mold before paint is applied and maybe reproducing a few in kevlar/carbon fiber for a lightweight version. My hatch now with the modification weighs about the same as factory.

Removable hatch would be the *****! Don't know if it is realistic in regards to cost but having that open to the air would sound awesome! Cool work. It is awesome to see people thinking outside the box and coming up with new stuff!
Did you say cream seats or was that cream on the seats. Hard to tell from the photo. Maybe time to zoom the page!

As much as this is cool - has anyone ever just remolded the original rear hatch in CF or fiberglass with a lexan rear window? I'm sure the race 928's would benefit from the weight savings... Hell, as long as the lexan had a good UV-resistant coating, what would be wrong with that setup for a street app? I LOVE 928's, but I sometimes wish we could benefit more from the beastly engine on the street with a bit of weight loss (then again, the modern trend seems to just make everything as big and heavy as possible, and just stick an ever bigger engine in it... so once more, the 928 was ahead of its time? ;P)

Body work on the hatch is complete. All it needs is paint... which will happen when the entire car is resprayed. I think it really improves the look of the car. The only thing now missing is the Strosek wing!
Pictures to come soon once I make time to put the new suspension on the car (lower it a bit) and drive it outside. It's been on jackstands for too long!
Enjoy the updated pictures.

I wonder what this type hatch would look like on a rear seat delete car?? That would allow the roof line to move forward and allow a larger window....more like a C3 Vette?
