So a couple of weeks ago I was talking with Dave C and he mentioned that he had heard that the PSD reservoir has a built in filter. He also mentioned that several PSD flushes in the past had resulted in crud being removed from the system due to lack of frequent fluid flushes. I would imagine brake fluid that has sat in a car for a few years can have a large concentration of water which can't be good.
Since my upcoming maintenance includes a PSD flush I decided to order the PSD reservoir just in case it really does have a filter. After placing the order Roger sent me an email saying that I just purchased one of the last reservoirs available and they are NLA through Porsche.![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
The really bad news is that these reservoirs really do have filters in them.
Specifically they have two filters, one is a simple plastic screen at the inlet to keep large particles out and the second is a pleated filter at the bottom which is designed to filter the fluid. It doesn't appear that the filter will be something we can easily source and replace although I could be wrong.
Here are a couple of pictures of the reservoir. Its difficult to see the pleated filter in the picture but it is definitely there.
Might be worth investigating this filter since we will all eventually need to find an alternative. Meanwhile as others have said time and time again, FLUSH YOUR PSD's REGULARLY!

Bummer! I have in my notes from somwehere that the PSD reservoir filter is 964 355 183 00, but I have not ordered one to verify. Anyone BTDT?

Part is NLA but I ordered it anyway and received two.
We have seen two bad PSD's already this year.
Replacement is circa $6k from Porsche.
I all ready have a relationship with a company in Germany that can rebuild the PSD and bench test it for circa $1500. Not cheap but better than $6k.
The best way to protect your PSD is to flush it regularly.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

what part of the PSD are you getting prices of $6K for?
The pump which is what goes runs $1100 last i checked. The mechanical valve deal i think is about $600 but i think those are an easy rebuild.
Curious what PN you used and got a price of $6K for
I heard the reservoirs are still around, probably a good idea i pick them up actually.

I just ordered 3 of the reservoirs, Rob you can have one when they come in if you want. Right now i dont have a use for any of them but will keep them for a rainy day

I am talking about the complete unit not parts of the unit.
On the one I am having rebuilt The pump is blocked due to contaminated brake fluid.
The bearing inside the pump is damaged due to corrosion.
Due to the blocked pump the power transmission from the motor to the pump rotor has sheared.
Due to the blocked pump the electric motor failed because of overload.
The pressure switch did not work at the correct points due to contamination.
Replacement with a new unit from Porsche complete was around $6k including everything.
I can't find the assembly number at the moment and maybe my price is wrong but the assembly will not be cheap.
Until recently I was not aware anyone could rebuild the units and bench test them.
We can now have the units rebuilt and bench tested for circa $1000 to $1500 depending on how bad the failure is.

Hi Ryan,
Just checked and there are non left anywhere.
I bought two from dealers who had them in stock.
It is not saying NLA but non are available so maybe they will get more in if we are lucky.
