Thunderhill trackday report & photos!!!!
NCRC weekend....weather looked really iffy (same as last time) but ended up nearly perfect....cloudy, windy and could but not a drop of rain on either day!
I got 5 great runs in on Saturday and set a personal best of 2:09.420 using a rented timer...which was good enough for the 2nd best time of the day in the "Time Trial." Which also was good enough for 1st place in GT2 on Saturday and my 2:10.3?? on Sunday was good enough for 2nd place in GT2....
The widow ran great all weekend, except for my dying brakes...which was my fault for not flushing the fluid before the weekend.....5 track days on fluid that was in the car when I got it, isn't really a great idea I found out! I never lost brakes, I always had power....just the pedal kept getting lower and lower and a WICKED shimmy set in during my last run session...I just hope the rotors aren't warped!
I filmed two great spins right in front of me....a really nice one by a C6 Z06 on hoosiers off turn 1 at probably 90mph....on the 1st lap of the session....heres the link

GREAT SHOTS!! car looks awesome. (and familiar)
was that a new guy going the wrong way onto the track. You think there would be a traffic cop at the pit out to help folks with directions there .

I did...it was the breather line right at the top of the filler neck.....that was about 95% of the problem.....it still is leaking a little bit...but I don't smell gas anymore so the leak can't be that bad & nobody behind me noticed...
I still have the fuel starvation problem below 1/4 tank....so I will have to work on that!

I finally had the chance and watch your laps all the way through. You're doing a great job. 2:09 already! You're going to be knocking off 2:05's in no time.
Be sure use ALL of the road at the exits of Turn 2, 4, and 9. As you add throttle earlier it will naturally force the car to the outside. You should be firing out of 2 like a jai alai ball.
I'm not sure why you lost grip at Turn 7 on the last lap. It sounded like the first lap, you weren't flat through there, but for the second you were. Did you lift on the third? The car is definitely under heavy load there so you have to be committed to throttle. If you stay WOT there you should be fine. At the exit of 6, keep your eyes up and look for the entrance of 8. I've found seeing the entire path through 7 makes your steering inputs more gentle.

Great video Brian, love the sound of that black bitch. Your improvement over the last year or two is inspirational. I used to could hang with you, I don't think so no mo.
Just one suggestion from a rank amatuer, look ahead, look ahead look ahead. Is that one suggestion or three? I think your line, out of two especially, will cure itself once you start looking at your exit destination way earlier in the corner.
Those tires seem a lot stickier than I thought they would be.
Thanks for including us.

Guys.....
All advice is greatly appreciated..... I am just a novice with a grand total now of 12 track days under my belt...6 in sharky (some short), 1 in the M3 and 5 in the widow....all at thunderhill.....I do find myself not looking far enough ahead towards the apex....I do get sucked in to looking right in front of the car....I need to work on that....
I thought the car got loose because I bashed 5 so hard...but the suspension is pretty rugged...so I don't think it did anything since my best time of the day was AFTER I bashed it.... I think I can take 2 faster...but at times it feels like it will understeer off the track, but it never does & the tail never gets loose there either?
I REALLY like the tires-suspension settings.....

Brian the car looks just fantastic and I'll bet you are having the time of your life! But you seriously might look into stiffer springs/shocks, it looks like you're on the bump stops in a couple of those shots and that is definitely not helping. Ask Mark Anderson about a stiffer setup, only Kibort can run on bump stops.
[edit] and when are you going to paint a red hourglass on the hood?
