Maverick selling one of his cabrios
I saw this on rennlist. Maverick, who has participated in Sharktoberfest in the past is selling one of his cabrios. His shop is in Malibu California, and I have seen several of his 928s which were very well done. I know that some of the rennlisters have suggested that his reputation is tarnished, but I found him to be a very pleasant guy, with some very nice cars You can see some of this other cars at his web site www.projectasap.net. Here is the photo of the one he is selling on CL

That car was at Sfest '08. The body and paint work looked great, some rough edges around where the cabrio conversion was done. I didn't know it was the same guy... I remember thinking he was a shmuck, offering Connie a ride on the fun drive then standing her up. How could any sane man stand up a cutie like this?
BTW, I think that's Joe Fan in the passenger seat -- he let Connie drive his Ferrari to get lunch, across the street.

Personalities aside..I saw this car up close and in person at the last Sharktoberfest. It was very nicely done and probably the first cabriolet where the craftmanship/styling didn't stop at the front of the car. I hate to say it, but every other cabriolet 928 I've seen just looked like crap at the back...they just didn't seem to match the rest of the car. The back end of this one was very nice looking and the integrated spoiler flowed very well with the rest of the car. Didn't see any of the engine though...so someone else will have to comment about that.

I'm sure a hard cover boot could be made for this one.... Actually, it would be nice to see pics with the top up..that I did not see at Sharktoberfest...
And yes...the ditching of Connie at Sharktoberfest was lame of Maverick...

As for doing business with Marverick, caveat emptor - buyer beware. I'd take only cash, in person, up front; and when you do, have one of those pens that verifies the bill as being genuine. Bernie Madoff was also a very nice guy.... so, caveat emptor.
