Default fender rolling question

I've been looking at different wheel/tire combination and using Andrews excellent wheel fitment calculator but one thing it doesn't tell me is:

How much room is gained by rolling the fender?
I need to know just how wide a tire/wheel I can shoot for if I'm willing to roll the fender. And do you roll fronts too or just the rears?

And by rolling the fender I'm assuming you guys are using a baseball bat or dowel and not doing it so much that and body work or painting is required.

Make sure to use heat when you do this or it will crack the paint.

Tire size depends on how much you roll the fenders.

To add to your data I did a mild rear fender rolling on my 85 and run 315/25-19s on 11" rims

Thanks! Is this a picture of that wheel/tire combo? If it is then my search is over, that is SWEET!
And what do you have on the front?

A mild roll will get youa 295 without issue. Both Murf and I have done this.

Yes, that is the combo. Fronts are 265/30-19 on 9s or 9.5s, I forgot.

We can get that size in Fikse or Forgeline. Those particular wheels shown are from a company we no long prefer to deal with.

I would have to check current pricing, but I know Fikse is getting very aggressive with pricing. For sure they aren't gonna be in the $1000 knock-off price range :-(

Thats the general idea of how to do it. a baseball bat (wood) works better and prevents many of the issues they had in that process. the dowl bends too much, isnt thick enough, and doesnt have the varied thickness to increase the rolling effect over the process. remember to keep the bat veritical as best you can and you will be in good shape as those guys were doing in the video.

The front fender really can only have its "lip" bent under and flattened. this one is tricky as it is aluminum and you have to get it started with something other than the bat . (rubber mallot to get it started with the tire off). Then the bat will work fine but be careful

Another tip is to make SURE there is no undercoating or other crap behind the lip of the fender before you try to flatten/flare it.

Other than a bat, I have had really good luck with my Eastwood Fender Roller. It is a popular tool at some of the SITM parties at my place.

Here is one in action, just not on a 928 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqiTfYyaI1A
