Any Motorcycle Riders Here?

I'd like to find one of these.....
Not for beauty, speed or build quality, but more of a unique & odd thing to have.
I had a chance to buy a near-mint RE5 that 'needed a tune' and a Kaw. H1 - also in great shape. Same owner....he would have taken $1,500 for both. I was in college, and that was $1,450 more than I could scratch up.

I'm thinking about picking up one of these - finally coming to the US. They are built in England:
I was set on a V-Rod until this was announced

I dont have official specs yet.....some information from the test ride that MotorCyclcist took on the bike:
Claimed 91HP (up 20hp from the XL1200R)
3.5 gal tank
551 lbs
43mm inverted Showa forks
Dual Nissin four piston calipers
...and an actual quote from the article "The XR handles brilliantly, even by the stardards of such benchmarks as the Aprilia Tuono or KTM Superduke"

A Harley that handles?
Cool looking bike.
I see some styling cues from this....
Find one of those ^^, stick some lights on it and tool around on nice days....I'd say a good investment.
(who needs front brakes or fender?)

Hey Bill,
We rode up to Canada crossing over above Bellingham, WA then headed up to Jasper Alberta through Kamloops. From Jasper we rode the Rockies down through the ice fields, stopping at Lake Louise and Radium Hot Springs before hitting Whitefish, MT for a few days. On the way home we stopped in Longbeach, WA to visit a bro then down Hwy 1 along the Oregon and CA coast. Bodega Bay was our last night on the road. A great two wheel trip!

Carl, quite a list. It appears that dirt is your friend.
I notice that each year you progressed into a larger cc dirtbike....all the way to that CR500AF beast...but each street year you progress down in cc (except for the RC).

I tried to buy a KTM 495 when I was 14 and the guy wouldn't sell it to me. I would have loved that thing.
My first street bike was the 1150 Suzuki... kind of funny. I commuted into Boston on that thing and rode it through the winter. Not smart...
I did love the RC51, and it was the slowest of all those bikes in a straight line. I could wheelie to the end of 4th gear at 130 mph though. I had it up to 176 mph indicated once, not scary at all.
My next bike will be an 800 interceptor or another RC51.
