To give you an idea of an alternate mounting location here are some pics showing where we mount the ProVent on our Twin Screw Systems. We have custom mounts for our Twin Screw Fans just for the Provent. It appears the Murf system location will just be a mirror image as far as location.

I'm not aware of anyone having problems with the standard configuration that I send out, especially since Stage3 was released...... Is yours not working properly? If the discharge hose is dry, then it is doing its job.
DR, if you want to make something that will fit on the MURF cars I can send you dimensions of what mine is all about, if that helps.

I think David said something about flames coming out of yours from all the boost and power...
BUT, it would be better if you sent me one of YOUR 928s to "test fit" for a month or so. I could do a much better job that way... but I can't promise what the condition of your tires will be when I return it . :-)

Don't know if it makes sense or not but while we build several engines locally this spring we will add breathers to all four cam cover holes. While doing that we also modify 90 degree piece that goes through cover. Most of them I have seen have much closer hole at 90 degrees turn than hose size would make one believe. Its possible to make entire piece large size simply by drilling it. Thats what we do for all four.
No. Head gets in the way on one or two of the four holes. We cut part of the plastic away to make it fit. Narrow cut all the way up on the side is needed.

I've been monitoring this thread for a while, and have been reluctant to post. However, there are some things that maybe need clarification about the product, and expectations.
First, the ProVent is called an 'oil separator'. When in fact it is more accurately a 'fluid separator'. The gases in a crankcase are only partially made up of oil vapor from windage, and oil evaporation. A significant constituent of the vapors in an engine are made up of the products of combustion. What are the products of combustion? Well, for one thing - water. There is also significant partial properties of unburnt fuel and nowadays alcohol. This can, and has led to oil contamination if the engine is used sparingly which doesn't allow the products of combustion to be evacuated from the oil. Also, it can lead to lower oil viscosity and increased chemical degradation of the oil in the case.
Next, the installation of the ProVent is very critical on the sum of the partial pressures within, and outside the crankcase. In many engines, a positive crankcase pressure is required to operate within emission guidelines. If the unit is installed without close care taken to these pressures you can negatively pressurize the crankcase causing all kinds of potential trouble. If the output port is plumbed anywhere besides atmosphere, this almost certainly will be an issue unless the unit is tuned, or matched to the amount of blow-by(crankcase pressure) present on a particular engine. Boosted engines take note!
Finally, in terms of the 928, I think the majority of the problems are created in the S4 engine by having only one side of the cam cover vented properly. If you take the cam cover off, and look at the discharge vent, it has a plastic domed cylindrical shield that is an oil diverter, attempting to keep oil out of the return vapor line. In my rebuild I added venting to the other cam cover, with the shield as well. This will have the effect of balancing the pressures in the cam tower where most of the blow-by goes. I didn't do any pressure tests on the installation yet because my car isn't running yet. I'd like to see the kit allow for an additional vent to be added to the side that doesn't have one yet. I think they solved this in the GTS, but I don't see anything in the kit that would allow for this.

I drew my information from the link to the webpage for the 89-92 models. It does not show this option for the X version of the kit. From my experience, crankshaft rotation direction plays a very limited role in the direction of the crankcase vapors. I could be wrong, but the girdle assembly of the 928 engine would also mitigate against more vapor in the right side vs the left side. Volumetric tests from both sides would have to be done to determine the gas dispersion. That's beyond the scope of my ability to test economically.

Just for the record, if anyone cares. I plan on having two vents in each cam cover vented into the stock catch can via a tee fitting tapped into its body. The stock catch can will be vented to the Provent and then the seperated liquid will be returned to the crankcase. I would like to draw a vacuum from the provent by tapping into the airbox before the filter. From my past experiences, this may not work without another vent in the engine to atmoshere. We will see. This is a 1982 16v turbo charged engine running .5 bar of boost, currently with alot of oil control issues.

I think you guys are spot on with this plan. Multiple vents from both sides is a good thing. I suggest it be added to the base kit, and allow customers to do an 'option delete' if they don't want the left side vents.
Also, I'd like to see someone start an oil analysis with before and after gas chromatography vis-a-vis the provent unit.

I guess the only problem to venting the other side is you need to take the valve cover off to add the new fittings. That multiplies the installation time by a large factor.

How about the other way? An option to the 87-92 32v kit would be the added hardware for the not-quite-GTS-breather upgrade? (e.g. the adapter, o-ring, locking collar and nut.)
If the customer has never taken that CC off, then an option-option would be the 15 other bits of rubber for the CC.
