I'm lost, can you cut and paste what you mean?

The last pics I posted are the X version, look at the Graphics on the 1st page of this Thread.

Brian,

I think I know now what you are talking about (please correct me if I wrong).

In the first photo in my initial post the X version shown has a 1" Tee and then a 1" to 5/8" Reducer going to the cam covers. That was the first install. Since I had to get the uber expensive 1" aluminum elbows to make the special fitting for the 16V engine I decided to use those and upgrade the 32V X systems. It costs me more but it gives a sleeker look, flows better, and a simpler finished product . Instead of a large 1" tee and then a 1" to 5/8" reducer in line with each other I now have a 1" custom elbow with a 5/8" port on it.

The photo below shows the 1st X version (on the left) and the revised X version (on the right) and may help explain better. The custom fitting is shown below the pics. IMHO it makes the system more refined and it also streamlines the oil vapor flow from the filler neck into the ProVent since the smooth long radius elbow flows better than the "no" radius Tee fitting.

Cool, now I get it.

Those are the oil return/drain assemblies that attach to the bottom port of the ProVent.

On 89-95 they do not have the removable plate on the oil pan like the earlier 928s. That is why we have to use the modified dipstick as the oil return on the 89-95. However if you happen to have your 89-95 oil pan off it is better to drill and tap it (1/4" NPT) and use the 88 and earlier style return.

Brian,

FYI, here is a pic showing where the removable plate is on the 88 and earlier oil pans. In 89 they no longer milled the hole and eliminated the plate. This was left over from the 16V engines that had the oil return pipe mounted to the oil pan.

EDIT: I added another pic that shows the later style oil pan with the plate ommited.

Hello DR,

Would it make sense for the GTS breathers to move the hose from the front of the drivers side cam cover to the back and ad an oil separator under the cam cover (like the one on the passenger side)?

What about two breather hoses on the drivers side for maximum breathing?
Is there room for an oil separator under the cam cover on the front connectors?

Don't know if it makes sense or not but while we build several engines locally this spring we will add breathers to all four cam cover holes. While doing that we also modify 90 degree piece that goes through cover. Most of them I have seen have much closer hole at 90 degrees turn than hose size would make one believe. Its possible to make entire piece large size simply by drilling it. Thats what we do for all four.

No. Head gets in the way on one or two of the four holes. We cut part of the plastic away to make it fit. Narrow cut all the way up on the side is needed.

No, it's just that I need another 928 about as much as I need an extra 20 holes in my head. And there are folks on this list that deserve to be called 'guru' way more than me.

Anyone considering this with the Murf II or III kit?

Hi Dave,

I have had a few requests for a version for the Murf Kits and I would be happy to do it. I have already made a couple of custom MAF-LOC Kits for a few Murfers. All I need to do is get my hands on someone's 928(with a Murf kit installed) for a day and can work out the different hose layout and mount. If I don't get the chance before SITM, I am sure I will have the opportunity then.

Tom F. has his ProVent mounted back near the MC on his CS install and said it is working great.

David,
I just order the x-treme one for my 88 S4 yesterday. I do have a Murf stage 1 super charger sitting at where Pro-vent will be. Should I wait for you to put out a kit to reloadcate everything?

Please send me a photo ASAP looking straight down on your engine compartment so I can try to adjust the kit so it will fit better. We may need to work together on this a little if you don't mind doing a little prototyping for me. Basically I will just send you some longer hoses that you will need to cut to length.

Looking at some of the Murf Pics I think we can mount the Provent on the drivers side fan bracket. If so, it is just a simple matter of different hose lengths. If we can do it there the Oil return to the oil pan will be perfect.

Judging from a pic David posted in another thread it looks very doable.
