I saw that vid a while back, didn't think it worth mentioning or putting in my favorites. At first I thought it might be in South America but it seems to be in Spain.

Wherever it was from as noted by another poster it was LAME! SUCKY MUSIC, SUCKY PICTURES, no ACTUAL video footage! STUPID! Oh, yea and the roll cage which they seem pretty proud of is REALLY LAME for a stripped out racer! It is like a POS (relatively speaking here) bolt in cage with a few of the corners gusseted! Joey, don't ever post a waste of time video like that again!

Seriously if you are going to do a BMW M V8....the S65 4.0L is the way to go.....414hp stock in a 400lb-ish motor with only a 98 bore spacing so it is VERY short...I would guess 4 inches shorter than the 928 V8......so it could be mounted way further back....the only bummer is its a high RPM screamer...so you would want at least a 2.72 tranny or even the ultra rare 3.09 rear end
The 5.0l V8 cannot be pumped out much more - even in extreme race versions - built by BMW ///M for the ALM series or the VLN as found in the BMW E46 M3 GTR it never pumped more than 460-480Bhp. And we are talking a full on race motor which will set you back at least EUR50k. The standard engine could be remapped, get new headers and cats and you will see around 420Bhp and then you will be stuck. We got 410bhp out of a GTS with Elgin Cams, Devek Level 2 headers and exhaust...

Much bigger fan of the Aston Martin V8 as found in the N24 - 4.7ltrs and 470Bhp, dry sumped from the factory. Compact and easy to install. Muchos denarii, however, thus I am "stuck" with my GTS screamer project

Hmm, not sure where you are getting your info but the Dinan S2 version of the S62 makes 470 BHP...this is a tractable, fully street legal engine. And of course with FI, 600 to 800 HP is available.

There is a huge difference between a race engine, which will spend 24hrs at between 5500 and 8000rpm at WOT and a street engine... Always been a bit skeptical of Dinan's claims...

I got my info from the guy who used to drive one of the cars at the 24hrs of the Nurburgring. Currently runs an Aston N24... He is helping me with developing my car for the VLN...
