Dammit.....okay I ordered one just in case...$50 for a custom part like that is well worth it...

They originally quoted George "under $100", requiring him to buy 2 and planning a batch of 10. So, the final price was a real surprise.

It should fit all 87+, and since they left the breather ports on, it should work on NA cars as well.

Bill, I think Dan has a Twin-screw or Roots type blower. It won't work there unless he's using
the stock boot somewhere upstream of the blower....

That definitely is a good looking part, and a good deal at that price.

Doesn't need it.

Pretty sure Georges failed due to extreme heat in a racing enviroment. My 87 won't see those conditions.
+1.

In George's pictures of the stock elbow failure, you could see that the heat was high enough to melt the plastic piece that goes into the rubber elbow. This new boot will stand up to that kind of heat, but unless the reason for the high heat is fixed, George is pretty likely to have other problems.

That's where I'd say you should have an intake air temperature sensor installed.

Awesome George! I can only imagine the disappointment of all the prep, travelling, etc only to e shot down by a $2 piece of rubber(I know it cost more than that, I'm just sayin'...). Looks like that will be the last time that happens to you(at least with that particular $2 worth of rubber).

Thanks Z.

Heat is something I'm trying to address. I upgraded the heat exchanger in
the passenger's side and added an intake port to allow more air in. I also
added a second heat exchanger to the driver's side. Here are a few photos:

the next failure prone part are both of the plastic pieces that plug into either side of the MAF boot , It would be nice to get some made from steel, I have found that just looking at the plastic will cause it to crack, if your going racing make sure to have a few of these pieces in your spares box the pass side is the thinner of them so its easier to snap, Good Luck with your racing George

Glad they came through for you. Looking at the invoice, it says 4" and 3.75"
clamps. They sell them also, just weren't on the web site. I suggested they
put that as "recommended buys" when ordering the MAF boot, since most
people will want to upgrade those at the same time.

Thanks Stan. I just use one of those plastic "Y" pieces. The other port is blocked
off, so I only have half as much chance of breaking them. I also put hose clamps
on all three prongs of that piece, just so it won't "blow off".
