So does this mean that Gary will be changing his belt at the party? I recall the last PM you sent said that you weren't sure.
My supercharged GT had no problems passing emissions in GA with the air pump disconnected and with stock cats or X-pipe with high-flow cats.

Thanks, Dan. I may go for it. The GT has always run very clean. I recall one emissions tech commented that the Atlanta air was cleaner coming out of the tailpipe than it was going in.

Yep, I make it a point to try and have all my cars running this way. My wife's 968 is the best, it puts out hardly any NOx or HC's at all, and CO % is like 0.01.

No, he's not going to do it there.

Sorry to hear it. I was kind of looking forward to having another participant if just for the sake of comparison and reference. I hope you both are planning on joining us anyway.

We're planning on making it. Gary did not want to take the chance of having issues that would prevent him from driving back that day. So we are going to do the job a little closer to home, just in case.

Just a thought, but you might want to get 10 foot of fuel hose and some clamps if you are going to have some new members there, just in case any of them look like they are about to have a problem with the fuel lines.

mcholdfast did you get my PM?

Mike,
I have everything to do my timing belt and water pump, but had not planned on doing it at your party. If you do have room (or only a few changing belts) I may do mine. I also have new radiator and tensioner rebuild kit.
Please PM me you address again so I can google directions.

Thanks, Woody

Hi Woody,

Right now it looks like I'm the only one doing the belt/pump swap at the party so you're more than welcome to join in. There's plenty of room, we just need to figure out a way to share the lift when needed. I think I have all the tools required but if you have any specialty tools that may make things go easier or other items of interest (SharkTuner?), please bring them along.

I was hoping someone else would join in. I think we're going to have quite a few hands that want to do some wrenching and only so many can work on one car at a time.

Thanks, PM is on the way.

Gio,
Do you mean count you in for a TB/WP swap? If so, you're in.

I don't have an old stove other than the one in our kitchen. My wife would be happy to let us use it if I buy her a new one and that ain't happening anytime soon.

I've got a gas smoker. Would that work. I'd like to be able to use it again to smoke turkeys and whatnot afterwards so that may not be a good idea.

Sounds good Mike. I need to call and order a W/P. The gas stove may or may not work. I don't want to be around if it does not work (may go "big boom").

Mike,
I will be doing my TB/WP/Tensioner/radiator and anything else I don't get done this weekend. I have to check on getting a place to stay, but will be there Friday and Saturday. I am off until Tuesday in case I need to stay longer. I will bring my Sharktuner and wideband, but that is a whole other ballgame. If someone has used one before and wants to use it, that is fine.
Talk to you later,
Woody

Ok, so I heard back from my shop and here's what was done the first time around (just a few months ago):
R&R Timing Belt and Water Pump, 928 32v.
Includes R&R Tensioner Rollers, Boots and Clips.
Replaced worn oil pump drive gear, both timing gears and crankshaft gear.
Tested operation.
__________________________________________________________________
928 105 512 12 Roller 1.0 @ 73.46 =$ 73.46
928 105 157 50 Timing Belt 1.0 @ 42.89 =$ 42.89
928 105 552 08 Tensioner Roller Boot 1.0 @ 24.56 =$ 24.56
NPNCOOLANT Antifreeze 2.0 @ 13.55 =$ 27.10
999 512 564 02 Tensioner Boot Clip 1.0 @ 2.57 =$ 2.57
928 106 134 05 Water Pump Gasket 1.0 @ 2.60 =$ 2.60
928 106 015 20 Water Pump - NEW 1.0 @ 326.56 =$ 326.56
928 105 613 04 Tensioner Bushing 2.0 @ 18.86 =$ 37.72
11 21 1 468 742 Pilot Bearing 2.0 @ 7.23 =$ 14.46
NPNSOLVENT Solvent 2.0 @ 4.63 =$ 9.26
928 105 571 04 Camshaft Belt Roller 1.0 @ 94.03 =$ 94.03
928 105 530 01 Camshaft Gear 2.0 @ 129.90 =$ 259.80
928 107 107 13 Oil Pump Drive Gear 1.0 @ 73.65 =$ 73.65
928 105 125 12 Crankshaft Gear 1.0 @ 92.92 =$ 92.92
999 192 347 50 6KX875 Belt 1.0 @ 9.79 =$ 9.79

I'll talk to Roger and see if he recommends anything else be replaced. Other than the Porkensioner does anyone spot any glaring needs that I'll have? I won't need a new belt, right? I'll be able to slip the old belt off (and by old I mean 2 months old) put the Porkensioner in the system and put the old belt back on, right?

Thanks,
Dan
