We'd love to have you join us and will certainly make use of your help and beer.
I'm sure there will be some positive and negative influence on your thoughts about buying one. You'll see all of the beautiful cars on display but you'll also see that timing belt that goes from here to yonder and back again. At least you'll know what's in store for you if you do decide to buy one and do your own wrenching.

I'll be posting location and schedule info once we get closer to the event date. See you then.

Mike,
How many are doing the TB & WP dance?
How many TB's do you need and spec early or late.

I'm not sure, Roger.
Last I heard from Abby, it sounded like Gary may have changed his mind so it may be just me. I'm still toying with the idea of doing two of mine though if nobody else chimes in. If so, that'll be two 89's.
If I neglected to mention it before, thanks a bunch for your continued support.

I talked to the guy at the local Greg Smith Equipment location and he said sorry but no. You would think this would be a good opportunity for them to demo their product. Oh well.

They must be having no problem selling lifts in this recession/depression/everyone-is-broke economy.

I suppose. Right now we've got 13 that are planning to come and another 9 maybes. I told him that there would be 15 to 20 Porsche fanatics here that do their own wrenching. With an opportunity like that, I should be charging him a vendor fee for the priveledge of showing his wares. After he told me no, he said he like to have a photo of a 928 on my lift for their website.

Did you tell him "Sorry, but no"?

I am planning on coming by Saturday morning. What time does the party start?

I'm thinking I'll be out and about by 8:00 but we'll call it a 9:00 start. Gotta give the coffee some time to work before I start wrenching.

Great, I'll try to be there around 9 or so. I'll bring a Porken 32V'r tool, flywheel lock, etc. Also a motive brake bleeder and some ATE brake fluid in case anyone gets bored and has nothing to do.

Anyone have an opinion on this: I just had my TB/WP changed 1500miles ago. (Just had the 1500mi retension done). I tried to convince my wrench to put on a Porkensioner on for me but he refused--didn't want to be part of some untested third party thing. Anyway, I'd like to come down and get the Porkensioner installed and learn a lot about my car in the process but I'm not sure if this is a waste of resources since I just had the TB/WP done. Would I need to get a need belt and everything or would it just make my job easier since everything should be in pretty good shape--simply pull off the belt, get the Porkensior installed and put it all back together?

I'll be coming whether I do the Porkensioner install or not so I can take the opportunity to learn about the car...

Thanks for any opinions on the matter! Dan.

I would not mess with anything if it's all that new. Just tear it down, replace the tensioner and button it back up.

Hello from India! My car is down for work right now but I was still planning on being there, but it looks like family is going to take precedence and I'll be out of town that weekend. Keep us posted on how it goes.
