I recently brought home a 1985 928S Auto. ~160,000 miles with good records at least through 134,000. There are a lot of little things I need to do yet, but I'm off to a start. Changed all fluids, replaced the high pressure PS line, all belts, tensioner replaced with Porken tensioner, new Boge shocks from Roger, new tires... Drove it home from St. Louis to Tulsa over Thanksgiving. Lots of stuff to do yet. Been fun so far. In at about $4000 at this point. Let me know what you think, and any suggestions you have are welcome.

My $.02, drive it like you stole it. Mine was a garage queen the first 5 years as I was always fixing something. Now, I just drive the **** out of it and I swear, it has a self-healing effect.

If it has not been checked recently release the flex plate clamp and check the crank end play.

My '85 had good end play but the flex plate was loaded so now it is part of the annual maintenance to prevent thrust bearing problems.

Drive it whenever you can and work out the issues as they come up and it should be a great ride.

Looks very nice.

Did your 85 not have the shims and circlip on the front end of the TT shaft (on the engine side of the flexplate)? That should have prevented the flexplate loading.

Anyway, 76F55, pretty nice car for $4K, eh?

Congratulations! That's a nice find for the money. It has quite some life left to it, and you found the right place for advice on how to prolong the fun.

Welcome! Nice find for what, $2500 plus the parts you mentioned? Sounds like you stole it. Any engine/interior shots?

Welcome and congrats. You've got a strong start there: Porkensioner, new shocks and all minor things taken care of before your 5th post!

Put a set of chips and crossovers on there and hold on!

'85s ROCK!

Thanks for the comments and keep them coming. I appreciate all the input. In the background is, as could probably be deduced by my screen name, a 1976 FJ55 Iron Pig. I've had it for somewhere around 15 yrs. A few of the particulars are... high compression forged pistons, RV 260 grind cam, Weber 38/38, Man-a-Fre header, 3.5" suspension lift, 33/12.50R15s on black steel Rockcrawlers, Lockrite in rear, Warn 8000 on front, rear frame rails shortened, homemade bumber with recessed 2" reciever for clearance, Rocker panels replaced by 2"X4" box tube (double as sliders), body with lots of nature induced lightening holes.
Inaddition behind it and under cover: 1981 Fiat Spider 2000, inthe garage: 1985 RZ350, lots of engine, chassis and body mods; 1981 Suzuki GS750, lots of engine mods; 1998 Beta techno 270 and 1993 GasGas GT250 (trials Bikes); and missing from the drive (Wife driving it) 1984 BMW 533 with M30B35 transplant. And finally behind the garage sets the Hobicat 16.
