IN a write-up I saw for an 84 it said that the TB had to be removed to do the cam towers. That must have been incorrect.

Here is some progress shots, I replaced the cam sprockets, oil sprocket, replaced the oil pump seals, and installed the porkentensioner. Here is some pics of the oil pump:

Then here is a pic showing the progess I have made cleaning the engine bay. After I get the TB on, I will take it out and get the engine bay steam cleaned.

Before:

After:

Still a ways to go and I did end of having to use a backing plate on the bolt hole for the tensioner.

I misunderstood your earlier comment. For '87 to '95 you do not have to mix the belt with the cam covers. They can each be done separately.

I have no idea about the 16v motors.

Well, I am pretty much at the point where I will be putting the new belt on and putting everything back together. I have a box full of parts to go to the powdercoater. I have been doing things all along the way with this car. I am having the water bridge, front lift bracket, PS/ALT Bracket, Cross Brace, and all of the pulleys powder coated. Once they are all done getting the car back together will be moving forward.

Next up is dropping the trans along with replacing the motor mounts, oil pan gasket, and suspension.

Update: Thanks to you guys for your help and especially Worf. I got everything put back together and the car runs and the engine didn't explode! I got the water bridge and other parts powder coated and it looks great. The car runs great! I mean a totally different car! Its amazing what a difference all that work has made! The alternator is toast and I should be getting one here soon and I still need to drop the tranny and send it off to get rebuilt but this thing is awesome! I adjusted the timing as well so I am sure that helps. Also I bled the master cylinder and the brakes are like brand new! So all is well! I will be out of the country for six months so the trans will be dropped and rebuilt during the Winter of 09/10.

It's great to get things done and tighten it all up and enjoy the first ride without problems.... Nothing like a porsche.

Good work, Indy! I didn't do that much to my car in the first 5 years. Wait a minute... I still haven't done that much to my car and it's been 9 years!

Bill, I tell you this that some of the improvement in performance had to come from the 400 lbs of grunge, mud, cigarette butts, and other crap scraped and sprayed off of the engine and engine bay. She has not been well taken care of for some time! Its nice to get her up to good running condition. I will post some pics as soon as I can.

Now once the AT, TT, and torque converter are repaired and or replaced then it will be awesome! I can't wait to see what that hard work above feels like in 3rd gear!
